Don't you just hate how developers rush a product out then rely on a patch to fix things up? That's great if your the digital download generation but there are plenty of gamers (me for one) who haven't the means for what ever the reason to download patch updates so are there for left with the broken product that hits store shelves. Anyway two games I was really looking forward to are so broken I can't justify owning the pieces of crap. Moonlighter has a glitch where the shop will close for business but the game wont move onto the next segment so I'm forced to turn the game off. I did some google research and apparently it has a memory bug that causes this if the game is left in sleep mode between play. Princess Madelyn is even worse. I imported the jp physical and the game has a bug in arcade mode that flat out wont let me progress to level 2 after defeating the boss. Ive tried restarting and the same thing occurs.
It really annoys me that devs are releasing broken products like this. It shows little respect to me as a gamer but also to the product they created. Both of these games were very promising up until hitting the glitch wall. Its a shame because the games have potential and if they weren't so broken I would have gladly added them to my collection. Anyway I just wanted to warn everyone about these games. Feel free to add any bad game bugs that you have found to help the community become aware of these faulty products. I don't mean any bug. Like Skyrim is full of hilarious bugs that add to its charm. I mean a bug that causes you to waist your precious playtime by not letting you progress beyond a point so there for losing all your progression. Thanks
I agree. This kind of thing is annoying, the devs obviously rely on the fact that most people have access to internet now.
Could you take it over a friends house or to a cafe to download the update instead of selling the games? Just a suggestion 😉
they say that life’s a carousel, spinning fast you’ve got to ride it well. The world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams. It’s heaven and hell.

While I hate that you’re unable to enjoy a game you’ve purchased for any reason, this statement is undeniably false.
If, in the year 2019, you are unable to download game patches, you belong to a tiny minority. 99% of us have no issue or difficulty with downloading updates for our games.
Even in the rare instance that you have no WiFi access whatsoever, you could use a personal hotspot or any business (coffee shop, etc.) to quickly patch your games.
@Ryzaerian please don't hate in my regards that would be terrible. I live in the sticks and there are no internet cafes. But if I was to download a patch that would represent that I support this kind of practice. I don't respect rushed broken products and believe these games should of been test played or something before being offered to the public. And I don't want to collect everything and like to have a level of quality to what makes it to my book shelf. And yes I may be of a minor minority within the gaming community but the community supports such a large majority that this minority still add up to a lot of people. thanks for your thoughts
Hope you manage to work it out. Let us know how it goes @Painay

Like to point out Kingdom New lands before they fixed the bug where you couldn't save was another that no one talks about but for some reason because it Nintendo postings seem to make out it's only Nintendo with the problem but that is far from the point. Even xbox and ps has them but no one seems to complain about them but when Nintendo it's all over the map. So let's be realistic here bugs happen considering the size of the game code.

Just reminder if you have a Smartphone you have internet if that is the case you can always turn that into a hotspot for the Switch to get it's update.
@Yorumi Amen! There are always people who do this kind of thing - OMG this game has a bug HOW DARE THEY damn devs don't respect me as a gamer IT'S AN INSULT this never happened in the old days I REFUSE TO BUY THIS GAME BECAUSE I HAVE PRINCIPLES....
Last time I came across this was when Motion Twin released a performance patch for Dead Cells a month and a half after its console release. Same inflammatory language, high and mighty stuff about how "i will not support greedy devs who care so little about their audiences they rely on Day one patches so they can release a game on schedule".
I'm like, this wasn't a day one patch, the game wasn't broken, game was in Steam early access for over a year, and Motion Twin is an 11-person worker collective whose games before Dead Cells (which was very reasonably priced) were all freeware. But sure, let's go on a rant about how the greedy pig devs just want to screw their audience.
oh joy the inevitable backlash. I have every right to complain when a game causes me to turn off my system and flush my precious time down the toilet. life= is time and I dont like to waist mine. These glitches are huge and in your face that a 6 year old could of test played the game and realize this. I am the spending consumer putting money in the devs pockets so they can feed there family I have every right to complain when my money/time is being wasted. these devs should keep it in the oven until its cooked and stop serving us three quarters cooked projects. but I actually really love princess madelyn so have decided to stick with it warts in all..
@JasmineDragon you sound so contradicting and like your just trying to suck up to dev. you bash me for going on a "rant" through a rant of your own about dead cells or some [nonsense]. I dont think I am high and mighty I just have a lot of self respect for myself. If i buy a ham sandwich with no ham should I be like "oh well they tried there best" ..I dont think so. my precious money is being wasted and its up to me to stand up and express my sense of injustice.. understand?
@SwitchForce thanks yeah I'm a bit of a dinosaur but will try the hot spot. I try not to connect myself up to too much modern day devices for my own personal beliefs and reasoning. I was disappointed that no reviews on the web mentioned the bugs so I thought the decent thing to do was to let other gamers know whats up.
@Painay Sorry but there IS a patch for the bug you found. There is a game-breaking bug, which was not detected until after the game's release, and which was patched as soon as it was possible. A solution was implemented. YOU chose not to accept the solution. Like others have pointed out, if you can get online you have some way of downloading the patch.
So, this is not like they gave you a ham sandwich without any ham and told you to suck it up. This is like they gave you a ham sandwich without any ham and offered you a replacement immediately, but you refused to accept the replacement and instead went on Yelp to post a negative review telling everyone about this place that gives you sandwiches without any ham.
I feel your irritation that the bug was there in the first place. Yeah, it's super annoying and can lead to a lot of disappointment when you lose a game through no fault of your own. Unfortunately, games do have bugs. Every piece of software does. Every console launches with some problems. Every piece of military hardware has some issues at first, too, like just about EVERYTHING in the world that has moving parts or millions of lines of code. But things get fixed, and the next model is better. This thing did get fixed. The person who decided not to accept the fix was you.

@Painay After cooling down for a minute (which I recommend to everyone who participates in online forums, to avoid looking like an ass) maybe I was a bit too hasty to say things like "you decided not to accept the fix". I get that not everybody has impeccable Internet access and can download patches immediately. So, sorry for that. Sincerely.
But yeah, try setting up a mobile hotspot like others recommended here. Or you can head over to a McDonalds or a library or someplace that has wi-fi and download the patch.
Just please, try to keep in mind that the guys who made Battle Princess Madelyn are not EA or Ubisoft with a thousand coders and playtesters. You buy indie games, you need to accept that they are being made by tiny crews in their free time, they are labors of love and they WILL have bugs. In this case, one bad bug that the dev fixed as soon as he could.
And if you find a game-breaking bug in a game made by Nintendo or EA, then hell yeah, go ahead and blast them. Because those guys do have enough people and enough money to make sure their games are bug-free before launch, and a lot of times they just choose not to.
Sorry if I insulted you, and hopefully no hard feelings.
@JasmineDragon hey no worries at all I accept there is always an opposing point of view so I try to keep my mind open. I didn't mean to bash the devs too much Im just a really busy person and felt real frustration towards having my time wasted and dont have immediate means to download a patch. Madelyn is a great game/accomplishment however and I do plan on finishing the titles story mode (no glitch wall so far in story mode)
anyway peace out;)
Honestly, I kind of miss hearing the dial-up sound. Makes me all nostalgic for the days when the Web was all new and exciting and full of potential. I definitely don't miss dial-up speeds, though, or the connections that would break if you so much as breathed on your modem.
