I am trying to use my Turtle Beach Wii U branded headset for voice chat in Fortnite with no luck and am trying to troubleshoot the problem. From what I have read I should be able to simply plug the headset in and voice chat should 'just work'.
I do not head the sound of my own voice through the speakers. I have also never heard any voice from any other players.
Do you normally only hear voice of people in your party? For example in I play squads and connect with randoms, should I be hearing their voices if they are using a headset?
I have checked the settings to make sure voice chat is enabled.
I have tried powering down the switch and restarting everything.
I have plugged the headset into another device and confirmed that everything works.
Any help is appreciated.

Might want to read this as to why your Turtle Beach doesn't work with NSW. Not all headphone work with NSW as the chat on that link will tell you which model from TurtleBeach works with FortNite.

If this has happened to you, do not buy a new mic or anything. Its fortnite issue and it usually will resolve itself in time.

All you have to do is use apple earphones and plug it in and it should work. if it doesn't work, just make sure voice chat is not disabled in your settings. if it still doesn't work just restart the switch and try again.

My kids have intermittent issues with voice chat on the switch as well. Works fine for a bit but sometimes just doesn't work for whatever reason. They use the same exact headsets and it works fine on the ps4 only have issues on the switch from time to time. Hope it gets sorted soon

I’m having issues with mics - recently bought the snakebyte headset for my switch (which is designed for fortnite), however the mic doesn’t work - I’ve checked the fortnite settings, and restarted the switch countless times, but the mic still doesn’t work !! I’ve also tried plugging in an old iPhone set of earbuds w/mic... nothing works... is it my switch?? Is there a special setting I’m not aware of?? Both of the ‘head sets’ have three lines on the prong, so they are compatible... any ideas?? Is the headset only compatible in certain games in fortnite??

hello guys, I have pretty the same issue as you but in my case it seems is a known problem without any solution yet . In fact in the Settings of the Fortnite game, whenever I activate in the Sound parameters the Voice discussion = Yes when go back to game is automatically revert back to Voice discussion = No . I would very much appreciate if any advise.
