As the title suggests, I'm planning on buying the switch lite. I would love to play with my mom again, however she doesn't have a switch. I know that you can play with two people on the regular switch because you can detach the joysticks. Now, my question stands, does that also work for the lite version? I'm not so sure since the joysticks are all build in.
An answer would be much appreciated :3
You'd have to buy some extra Joy-Cons, but yeah Co-Op is a thing on the lite.
However I would recommend getting the standard switch if you plan on playing Co-Op, since you could hook it up to the TV and have a bigger screen, and one that isn't moving while you play it.

The regular Switch should be cheaper overall if you intend to use it for local multiplayer. The cost of the Lite plus a pair of Joy-Con would pretty much equate to the cost of a standard Switch, plus the Switch Lite has the disadvantage of a smaller screen (which could be problematic, at least in local multiplayer) and the lack of a kickstand.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
You have a good point. And since Mario Party apparently doesn't fully work on the lite, I guess it's better to spend the money. I'm just very conflicted since I'm not really a gamer (Except for Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley). Also, the games are all so expensive.
Nevertheless, I think I should buy the switch. I could play with my siblings then, too.
For Co-OP get the Standard Switch and buy either a extra Joy-Con or Pro controller but if your doing games like 1-2-3 then you needs to buy Joy-Cons. So that is something based on the games you will be playing. Anytime you want to play Co-Op then the Standard Switch is what you want. Otherwise you be buying two Pairs aka 4 Joy-cons to play on the Lite and this is not TV only portable so your now disadvantaging your gaming experience. For single person not need TV the Lite will do but should you decide otherwise then just spend the money on the Switch only that will save you in the long run.
1. Switch standard = needs extra Joy-con pair (79.99) or single Pro controller (79.99)to have Co-Op
2. Switch Lite = needs 2 pairs joy-cons (79.99x2=159.98) = or two Pro controller (79.99x2=159.98)
So you can see how it adds up fast for Lite just to Co-Op on that small screen. So either way you see it cost more to own a Lite in the end. And if you want TV mode then you will have to spend the money for the Switch instead.
Thank you!
I have gotten my hands on a switch today, and I'm already excited to play co-op games on it!
I'm later buying extra joy cons, but right now, I'm not planning on playing with more than one person.
