@I-U I think if you play Tri Force Heroes solo it replaces the other players with dummy Links that you have to throw around. I haven't actually played that mode because it doesn't sound very good, so my description of it may be slightly wrong but it's something like that. But maybe I should give it a go because I only got a short way into the game with a friend who I haven't seen in ages so I don't have anyone to play it in multiplayer with any more.
I bought Federation Force recently for a few pounds but I've been putting off playing it because I thought it would be better in multiplayer. Good to hear that the single-player mode is good too.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@SM3DASislit The games that come immediately to my mind are the New Super Mario Bros games. Technically capable, often fun, completely soulless. Frankly I feel the same way about most of Nintendo's modern 2D platforming games. It's like they're just trying to offer the purest distillation of their respective series and it removes anything weird and fun.

I'd rather a game be somewhat bad with a few interesting bits, than be generically good without anything remarkable.
I sort of agree with this in principle, but in practice I'd take New Super Mario Bros over Super Mario Sunshine any day. I do agree Star Fox Zero gets a bad rap though.

I think a better thread would be "Games that scored well which you absolutely hated."
Red Dead Redemption 2 would be my first pick followed by a bunch of other too real which is meant to be immersive which comes off as boring and over story driven games.
@Tyranexx Because of the multiplayer, online and the easy access of the switch I think both Federation force and Tri force heroes would be decent ports for the system. And Id love other M as well.
@kkslider5552000 I gave up on star fox because of the controls. I found the whole thing cumbersome and I love shooters. I understand people think that gamers don't want short experiences anymore so the on rail shooters are basically dead. That said Streets of rage 4 a short experience seemed to sell quite well. Perhaps the pricing would just have to be lower. Maybe in the clubhouse games price range. Surely Nintendo could manage to sell a couple games less than full price. (I have been waiting since July 11th for Raiden which is an hour experience)
so Zelda 2 is my game. I love that game and beat it on the original NES. Maybe people didn't hate it but ill make the assumption that clearly they didn't love it either since Zelda never went back to side scrolling.
@Matt_Barber
Oh okay, that makes sense. Right, I remember that being the case for Star Fox Zero. Yeah, that's a good point.
@Losermagnet
Okay. I've heard people the same thing about the New Super Bros. series. I've played NSMB (DS), Wii, and Wii U. I'm a little confused with how a game can be fun and soulless at the same time. I thought if a game was soulless it wasn't fun either.
@sixrings
I feel like devs could just make on rail shooters longer by having more "planets" or places to go to that are on the "primary" path.

LBX or Little Battlers Experience and Metroid Prime Federation. I was shocked and excited, after reading the one only good review for LBX which came from Nintendolife, maybe Alex wrote.
As a 3ds fan one of my biggest dissapointments was no new Battle Network or Medabots to shine on the system, however with lbx I got a game that had the spirit of both plus glasses free 3d gameplay and cutscenes. The game isnt perfection but it really does come close with a half good customization system and a likeable character and story. You can do a lot worse but in the game's case you actually do a lot better.
Federation was the perfect comprimise for me as a science and co op fan whose just not quite the market for a true metroid game. I was excited because the game is great and I was hoping it might inspire more co op shooters for the 3ds with the same quality but the game wasnt seen as the gem it was aside from the review from this site.
I too am not keen on the art style but game looks and runs great. Also I dont like the mod system and feel its too finite and not rewarding enough but the games good quality is noticable and on top of that it offers solo/local/online coop and an a fun mini game offering those same options.
@SM3DASislit i suppose it'll depend on the individual. I've been playing Mario games for close to 30 years and, to me, NSMB is just a copy of a copy. For what it's worth I feel mostly the same about Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze (so maybe my opinion is suspect). They're a bit better and the music is great in Tropical Freeze at least, but they didnt offer me much of anything other than "Donkey Kong with modern graphics". I think th SNES DK games took more risks than the modern games.

I definitely get where you're coming from. I do feel like Nintendo was in a time (and still kind of is) where they played things pretty safe with their known series. Although, the Switch does seem to be changing that trajectory with Mario Odyssey and BOTW as examples of Nintendo taking more risks again with their known series.

Heroes of the Storm. Such a fun game with the coolest characters and abilities out of any MOBA I've played. I've played since beta and it's just a blast. And in true Blizz fashion it isn't afraid to make fun of itself. One of the banners you can display when you capture merc camps has a 6.5/10 on it, the score IGN gave it lol
@I-U That is more encouraging to read. Another reason I skipped it is, Metroid fan though I am, I've always preferred the exploration, upgrades, and environmental puzzles in the series over the combat. Not that I dislike the combat by any means - I love some boss fights in the series - but Federation Force (and by extension, Metroid Prime Hunters, which I also haven't played) seem more enmeshed in the shooter genre, which I don't have much interest in. I'll likely pick up FF if I can find it for cheap however.
My issue with Tri Force Heroes is that the single player mode was clearly tacked on after the fact (which I believe was disclosed in an interview). The game gives you two dolls or "doppels" to switch to. This ranges from monotonous in normal play to downright frantic/frustrating during boss fights and timed puzzles as you essentially need to control one live Link and two lifeless marionettes while getting the timing just right to totem up in order to hit a switch or land an attack. This originally wasn't a huge problem until I unlocked later and more difficult stages.
I don't hate the game and did reach the end credits, but I find it to be pretty mediocre. I'm fully aware my experience would've been better in multiplayer, but I didn't know anyone else who owned it IRL and didn't want to rely on random online matchups 1. after reading reports about trolls, and 2. you could be queued up for some time, so I didn't want to waste an evening of gaming in a lobby. It's telling when a huge Zelda fan sells their copy of the game. Sad thing is, I absolutely loved the Four Swords Anniversary Edition port on DSiWare as they altered the game to make it easy to switch between various Links without compromising the single player experience.
@sixrings In terms of visibility, I could see both Tri Force Heroes and Federation Force enjoying more success on the Switch. Especially since there's a larger install base and online community. I'm not sure if it'll happen though when you consider how the games were received. Neither of them are terrible games, but there are definitely stronger examples in both franchises that would deserve the port treatment first.
I wouldn't complain if Other M also migrated over as long as some tweaks to the story were made and more of the side characters are explored. However, I'm worried the disproportionate online hate would kill any chances it would have. Plus they'd likely release it at $50 or $60, which I feel would be way too much unless the changes were significant.

LBX actually help push me to better manage my stockpile of items in witcher 3. My whole temperament was different in my return to witcher because before i returned to witcher i had spent almost an hour rearranging the internal componets of my lbx B team so that they were strong enough to help win after story rankings like the main characters i had played as more.
Normally if i spend that much time in menus, I ask myself am I playing the right game for me but in that case the answer was yes..........that time........at least.............who am i kidding here................MYYYYY LEEGGGG! GAME OVER MAN. GAME OVER! LOL
@Tyranexx Nintendo needs to start packaging games together or discounting rereleases. Tri Force Heroes and a link to between worlds upscaled to 1080p could reasonably cost the same as a full price game... otherwise if you sell them individually there should be a lower initial cost.
3DS to Switch ports might seem like an easy win. However, upscaling a 240p game to 1080p isn't a trivial piece of work, as pretty much all the textures will have to be re-made. AI can help with this a bit, but getting the original artists back in would probably be required if you want them to look good.
Then there's the second screen and differences in controls - particularly lack of a touch screen when docked - to consider.
All in all, it's a lot of work for a game that wasn't particularly well received in the first place. On the other hand, a high quality port of A Link Between Worlds could probably sell itself alone.
@sixrings As @Matt_Barber mentioned, that would be a lot of work. I'm not sure if they'd put in that amount of effort for an odd duck like Tri Force Heroes, given its reception. I could see them doing that to A Link Between Worlds eventually; IMO, it's one of the better Zelda games in recent memory. In a way it was a soft remake of A Link to the Past.

Snack world port is really nice but it definitely has that 3ds style and feel to it. For me there is equal appeal even in a shorter rpg with more conservative design especially one with online co-op and as much charming story and design as this game, but i feel snack world should have capitalized more on other things it could have offered.
I feel over the shoulder view for all parts of the game and not just boss battles and local co-op among a few more alterations could have really justified this game skipping 3ds localization to the switch and allowed them to squeeze more appeal out of the game's more conservative design.
