Personally I really like numbers. There wasn’t a special topic about numbers. In several topics the sale numbers were mentioned including many articles. I want this topic to be about Switch numbers.
This could be about the hardware sales currently but also about future plans and predictions. Numbers of sold software with the million seller games could also listed and the updates on the E-shop list.
Starting with the hardware sales. Nintendo came with a tweet that more than 10 million Switches were sold in the first nine months. That is incredible comparing the Wii U sales. It almost sold so many Switches in nine months as the Wii U in total.
Nintendo is also ramping up the production of the Switch next fiscal year (starting April 2018) to 25 - 30 units.
My prediction is that they will reach the 14 million Switches sold by the end of March. The Christmas sales will be included by then and I predict a very strong Nintendo Direct in January.
Looking at the software sales, the roll out strategy of them is a good one I think. The official numbers of 30th September showed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the console's biggest seller so far, with 4.7 million units shipped as of September 30th. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is second with 4.42 million, while Splatoon 2 is third with 3.61 million units. Even 1-2-Switch sold 1.37 million and ARMS 1.35 million.
These numbers already has been raised since then. I think BOTW already sold 6 million units, MK8 also around 6 million, Splatoon around 4.5 million and Odyssey can be added to that list with 4? million. 1-2-Switch and ARMS should be around 1.5 million. Mario + Rabits, I really don’t know how many sales but more than 1 million. I think Xenoblade also passed the 1 million sales already.
Third party sales, DOOM and L.A. Noire were quite good in the beginning but sales dropped after the launch. For Skyrim it is different, I think Skyrim will do much more better and will be a million seller if it isn’t already.
From the E-Shop, Rocket League is on top for several weeks which will be a good seller. Also Stardew Valley is on the list for a long period.
So what are your predictions of sales numbers. Or if I miss something, everything could be added. Comparisons with other consoles maybe? Graphs are also welcome to post in this topic.
