I am really enjoying this. I really hope they add some more modes. 25 player online racing and leaderboards for time trials would be amazing. The fact it has 25 and 50 vehicle races in the tutorial makes me think more racing modes will be added in time.
Something is telling me they're going to launch the new console with a 3D Mario and F-Zero. This is just a taster to build some interest in the series. If we do get a new one, I'd love for it to be In that comic book style. It would look incredible.
I’m pretty terrible at FZero so I’m not sure if I will play but as soon as I saw it I knew Nintendo was on to something. The premise of the series is that it is chaotic and dangerous and this is a fantastic way to demonstrate that. All the monkey paw naysayers I sometimes wonder if they only played GX or something. It’s not like this isn’t based on an existing version of the franchise.

YOU SPEAK FOR ME ALSO
THE FACT THAT NOT ALL TRACKS HAVE BEEN MADE AVAILABLE DURING THE MINI-PRIX AND GENERAL RACES IMPLIES TO ME THAT NINTENDO IS BEING CAREFUL ABOUT THE DIFFICULTY CURVE/AUDIENCE SKILL LEVEL, AT LEAST FOR NOW
@Ryu_Niiyama I’ve played every game in the series and when 99 was first revealed I was disappointed since I thought it was a lazy way to revive the series as a battle royale freebie on NSO after 19 years of not having a new game. After actually playing it turns out it’s pretty fun and the game had a lot of love put into it. I’m glad we got something instead of nothing at all, as much as I wanted a GX remaster I’m happy the series is being acknowledged in someway
I really love how it looks. I played some of the original on NSO last night and the graphical downgrade was quite jarring. It was like playing the original Virtua Racing after playing the SEGA AGES version. It would be amazing if they remastered some of their other Mode-7 and Super FX games this way. Super Mario Kart, Starfox, Pilotwings and Stunt Race FX updated like this would be amazing. Or how about Starfox with 99 ship dogfighting.
I've been saying for years they need to remake Super Mario World in the Mario Maker engine. A simple remaster that would go a long way.
I do really love this look. It most reminds me of the 3D Classics versions of NES games they did on 3DS, where its the same yet seems so much more...clear. I've not actually compared the two but it feels like an HD remaster, in its own way.
I know this game is days old and we've barely played on most of the tracks yet but I think (at some point) it would be cool to see Maximum Velocity tracks worked into 99!
This game has so much potential for new modes (such as the ones mentioned above) and other little things so I hope Nintendo continues to support this, and the franchise as a whole, moving forward
THIS GAME IS INTENSE!!
Once I got past the tutorials and into real 99 races w/ human opponents, I'm pretty sure I died on the first 10 races I attempted. Got super close to finishing the race, but just couldn't do it. Now I'm getting better and only die half the time. For some reason, I seem to get 32nd place almost every time I finish. I got 25th once.
I think this is my new favorite 99 game. It's quite fun. A bit light on content for now, but the other 8 F-Zero tracks are evidently already planned, and datamining so far has uncovered several track themes entirely new to the series, as well as the Forest track theme from the Satellaview F-Zero
Played it a bit today, usually I land around the 30s. Best result was in a Knight Cup GP where I was constentlly in the top 10, got a couple or races where I landed 3rd and I ended the whole thing at 3rd
Haven't got 1st yet

Got the achievement for being the first at the starting line. I've finished couple of Grand Prix in top 10. Also had one where I was second twice in a row and then failed the 4th race. Haven't gotten 1st place yet. Even getting to top 10 in single race is quite challenging.
Can't say yet if I like F-Zero 99 more than Tetris 99 but I find it more fun than Mario 35. It's light on content but there are signs of more coming so I hope they add new stuff pretty frequently and start before people lose interest. I also hope this leads to more F-Zero in future.
It's its, not it's.

Fear not, we will not be playing Mute City on loop for forever!
Queen League tracks are coming within the next week and King League tracks in Mid-October. A couple of other modes namely, "Survival Mode" and "Arcade Mode" have also been datamined as well as Satellaview content! Woohoo!
I hope they eventually have periodic special events similar to Tetris 99. Those are always a good excuse to return to the game. I'll probably play this game less than I played Tetris 99 or Mario 35, but these type of games are just fun in general.
@Ryu_Niiyama I'm very late to reply to this, but there's a tutorial that's pretty great actually. I sucked at classic F-Zero, and this helped out so much that I feel a lot better about playing it now.
