Topic: The NOT Rumour and NOT Speculation Switch Successor Thread.

Hi!

This is Dave from Digital Floundering. Thought I would condense everything Nintendo has told us about the Switch Next Model in one easy thread. I'll try and update as they announce things! No rumours. No speculation. No hacks.

The Switch successor will be revealed sometime this fiscal year. - Mr Furukawa 07/05/2024

It will use the Nintendo Account System.

As someone whose brain doesn’t understand 80% of the technical talk in all the rumors and leaks and all that this thread is perfect lol

I'm going to have to give you a warning for that, mate. This isn't the place for speculation. Nintendo themselves have not even mentioned games. For all we know, it will play something else! They made an announcement that there's going to be an announcement.

@Matt_Barber Technically, it's a heads up for an announcement of a reveal. It's very important we get the terminology correct on this one.

@Novamii Tell me about it! It's refreshing that they have stomped out any Switch 2 rumours and spared us the daily 'Will Switch 2 be in the next Direct' grift. 'Here's why it makes perfect sense(tm)'

There will be a Direct in June that doesn't mention it

edit: was trying to think of a technical non speculative thing to say just to troll the thread a bit. The best I think I can do is that NAND is cheaper per GB than it was in 2017

Furukawa confirmed that the next console will continue to use the Nintendo Account system already in place.

Unless I missed something, Furakawa only said “We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year.”

He said nothing about there being a reveal, so it's best not to get ahead of ourselves by assuming that.

oh, another fact!

"we currently believe that an increasing number of customers will choose digital products for successor models, just as they did for Nintendo Switch." Big news! Successor will still have digital games. 😛
