What if the white hand we see grabbing Link doesn't release him, and we are left playing as Zelda, in the same overworld, but with a copletely different set of skills. In her quest to restore Link and Hyrule Castle.
Interesting but I don't think people would accept a Zelda game without the sword, shield etc mechanics. Her as Sheik with ninja like skills would be cool.
Am I remembering the end of the game right where she loses her fancy powers?
Honestly it would be a cool concept if Link is injured and the game revolves around the two of them cooperating to get out and/or put a stop to whatever is happening. The green energy stuff seems to be around his sword hand, so it'd be cool if it inhibits him from fighting well, and Zelda has to help him. Make her more of a magic based fighter if you want. Pretty cool to see if they'll actually work together
Honestly, with the way Nintendo seems to be including some form of co-op in all their major releases these days, I wouldn't put it past them to make the first co-opable 3D Zelda game. Imagine being able to control either Zelda or Link, or both at the same time similar to how Gooigi works in LM3. Would allow for the creation of more devious puzzles, which is similar to what happens in Spirit Tracks. That game actually had me stumped a few times when I played it for the first time, because you have to manage both Link and Zelda.
Personally, just want to see her being more visibly and notably involved. She played a big role in BotW and had an actual character, but much of that participation was shown in the past and occurring in the background unseen. Feels like the perfect opportunity for her to shine
Also, as gamexplain pointed out, it almost looks like the light taking over Link's sword arm is outright replacing his hand/skin.
And based on the teaser, it mostly looks like they will get separated after this scene.
There could be some interesting ideas, and I hope they don't limit themselves because "but muh Link".
A good way to reuse the overworld without feeling samey and maybe even giving us a more traditional linear experience, would be to give us a different set of skills, be it by having a different main character, or changing the capabilities of the previous one.
For example, maybe if you play as Zelda, or Link loses the use of one of his hands, that could give them a reason to "nerf" climbing, and structuring the game in a different way, so it doesn't end up being just BotW twice in a row.
Other interesting ideas would be focusing on the underground of hyrule, or jumping the shark and making Hyrule Castle float up to some other place.
i really think that if nintendo does this right, they can finally make zelda the playable main character and make it good. not just “here play as the girl because it’s 2019 and politics”, but “here is a completely valid (plot-wise) reason to play as zelda, and her mechanics are interesting and unique”. the only problem is, what do you do after that? continue with always having link playable and just the one single zelda game, or what?
In case anyone wants to hear more about breaking down the trailer, Zeltik on YouTube usually does a great job with zelda related theories. He broke down the trailer for this game and it was pretty interesting what he picked apart from it. Although there wasn't much to go by in such a short trailer.
I just want link playable 80 to 90% of the time. Zelda playable for specific parts or puzzles of the game would be cool
I like this idea, and would certainly be cool with it. But if I had my druthers, I'd rather they each had different play styles, and you picked which you wanted to use at the start. Increasing replay-ability, and leading to vastly different scenarios due to each character's unique abilities/limitations. Seems highly unlikely, but I'll keep on dreaming.
XBox/Steam/Epic: owendershot | Switch friend code: I don't remember, these codes are crazy, I'll check later.
Playstations are fine, but I don't have one.
My favorite part is really the heartbeat you can hear throughout the whole thing, slowly building up. That's good horror. Subtle yet uneasy and atmospheric. If they can keep that feeling, it'll honestly be an amazingly spooky game.
The real obsessed ones were the ones in the debate for a female Link, get it right. Wanting Zelda playable were the moderates. (I wish I was joking, this sounds dumb but is absolutely accurate in every way)
