Topic: Switch Won't Charge

So I fear my Switch is broken. So last night I got home at 11pm from motor race and quickly loaded up Fortnite so the daily challenge pops up and then I could do it today.

Took it out of the dock and it had 2% battery, at the time I didn't think anything of it as I was tired after a 6 hour drive home.

So I thought it was the dock and charged it using the pro controller cable via a plug, but still it wouldn't charge. When I put it in the dock the green light flashes really fast constantly.

I've tried holding down the volume buttons and power button to get into the special menu, but it doesn't work. When I hold down the power button the Nintendo logo pops up but then just a battery indicator with a small red bar as it's out of power, then it just turns off.

So angry, and it's broke at the wrong time as Nintendo UK are doing a stock check so repairs take 3 weeks. It's annoying that the Switch doesn't have hot swap batteries so I could do it myself and see if it's just the batteries.

If they have to replace the whole thing I'll then lose all my save data, just before that feature to cloud save comes out.

I'm glad it's not my only console and that Fortnite is cross play, otherwise I wouldn't be able to play it with my girlfriend for ages. Feels bad man.

I've not heard of the green flashing before. Kinda sounds like a battery fault indicator doesn't it.

I fear we may start to see a bit more of this over the next 18 months. I haven't noticed anyone talking about reduced battery performance, but it can't be long for some people who have clocked thousands of hours.

Don't have any advice to offer I'm afraid, but good luck with it.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

I've seen a few videos with it flashing. Not sure how long the warranty is as I bought it on release day.
It's the sort of thing I could fix myself, as I fix PC's and laptops for a living.

You're 100% right about hearing more about battery life issues soon. Mobiles suck after a year or two as the battery degrades. Nintendo said ages ago that they have systems in place for people wanting/needing new batteries, for a fee obviously.

I'm just going to leave it plugged in overnight and see what happens in the morning.
