I can’t believe I didn’t know this. I randomly caught this on a different message forum site. I have the New version of the white Sony Gold Wireless headset. They work for Switch. In tv mode, just plug the USB dongle in the dock. There’s more...it works in handheld mode as well. Just buy a inexpensive USB C adapter. I see Best Buy has them for only $10. Plug the dongle in the adapter then into the Switch. I watched a video on YouTube just now. About to test it myself shortly.
@CTmatic There are bluetooth dongles that work with any bluetooth headset on the market. It would be nice if the Switch did not require them, one of my very few complaints about it.

Not sure what your complaint is, and not being sarcastic. I almost bought the Zelda A10 themed headset on sale and randomly found this out. In my opinion my Sony Gold wireless headset is quadruple better sound quality so I would have been so mad if I bought the Zelda one. Plus, who the heck wants a wired headset in 2019? Lol. How else would you use my Sony Gold without a dongle? It’s beyond perfect. @Heavyarms55
I’m sure I’m missing something here, not trying to sound like a know it all. I just don’t see any gripes, unless I do after you clarify.
He meant: "I wish the switch was compatible with wireless headsets without having to use a dongle".
And yes, I have one of the Bluetooth adapter dongles, it works perfectly. But yes it would be nice if it was just natively compatible with Bluetooth headsets.
@CTmatic@Eel said it. But to repeat it, what I meant was, with dongles you can use any headset on the market but I wish you didn't need the dongle in the first place.
Unless I am misinformed, the Switch uses the same type of Bluetooth technology for controllers and it's purely the software that prevents the console from connecting to headsets.

Gotcha guys. I know I can be wrong but I almost prefer it. Maybe it’s just my OCD but I feel like the dongle serves as a stabilizer for quality connection. In other words stable, and no delayed audio effects. But what do I know. I agree though, I’m a “less is more” guy. So removing the dongle if guaranteed quality connection/audio. Sign me up!
@CTmatic I am hardly a technical expert - I just haven't seen anything that explains why it can't be done. I've never seen anyone report delay with button input with Switch controllers, nor any delay with vibration on them, so I don't see why there would be any audio delay either.
But maybe there is some technical problem I don't know about / that isn't known to the public.
One idea I had was that, the Switch is perfectly capable of doing it, but doing so would reduce the number of controllers one can connect to the device while the headset is connected and Nintendo decided they didn't want that.

Gotcha. Understood. If your theory is correct I’d sure as heck have no problems. (I only play solo). Interesting though. Yeah I’m not sure either.
Either way I’m beyond stoked that my Sony Golds work for Switch because for almost all of this year Switch is all I play. My PS4 collects dust. I got it for free from managing at GameStop. My Xbox collected more dust so I traded it. Switch is just the bomb. The best, having ports and Nintendo exclusives together is just phenomenal. It’s my #1 console with my 3DS sitting in the wind for long now and agains. 😀 @Heavyarms55
@CTmatic A good headset is absolutely awesome, I agree completely. I also spent the vast majority of my time gaming playing the Switch. My PS4 is a Blue Ray player video streaming device at this point. Not that there aren't good games on it, just that my backlog on Switch is just too large as it is and I can take my Switch with me.
Many Switch games have killer music too, Smash has a great collection, and the sound tracks for Octopath Traveller, Xenoblade 2, Fire Emblem Three Houses and Pokemon Sw/Sh have all been excellent, just to name a few.

I think this has to do with Nintendo IP communications and that isn't something they are willing to give out. That is why one has to use 3rd party hardware. But if one isn't sure they should really contact Nintendo support and tell them what hardware they are trying to use and what should be used to connect them.
That makes absolutely no sense.
And it doesn’t matter what hardware is being used, Bluetooth headphones don’t connect natively to Switch. Like others have said, it doesn’t allow it.

I use my Arctis 3 with Bluetooth with a Gulikit Bluetooth adapter on Switch, because it can be used wirelessly in that manner but also connected via the headphone jack while the Bluetooth connects to the phone for chat audio, and it mixes the chat audio with the game audio.
Downside is, all Bluetooth has a smidge of lag. And you can notice when you’re tabbing over the icons on the home menu.
Hence why I bought the Arctis 1 Wireless also, which comes with a dedicated 2.4GHz wireless dongle, virtually lag free and way better audio quality than lossy Bluetooth headphones could ever hope to provide. And the dongle is USB-C, and even smaller than my Bluetooth adapter, so it’s incredibly low profile when using with Switch. Which makes sense. It was designed first and foremost with Switch in mind.
Bought PS Platinum headset in between, and while the sound was about as good as the Arctis, I swear those are the most uncomfortable headphones I’ve ever used in my entire life... I don’t know how people do it. I couldn’t wear them more than two minutes without the squeezing feeling like my brain was being compressed, not to mention the earmuffs weren’t that comfortable either.
I strongly recommend not using Bluetooth, and instead opting for a headset with a dedicated wireless dongle such as Arctis 1 Wireless, which also happens to be insanely comfortable, which is something you’ll care about more than you think when you’re actually wearing them. And if you want to mix game and chat audio then Arctis 3 with Bluetooth is the top choice, imo, but it comes with a price. Slight lag and worse audio quality by nature of being Bluetooth.
