Just adding to the ongoing Switch revision discussion.
Youtuber Spawn Wave recently uploaded a video talking with Nate the Hate about at least one third party publisher that expressed an interest in bringing their game to the Switch platform, but would require the additional capability of the Switch revision to do so. My assumption is that two of the possible games would be Final Fantasy XIV and/or Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis.

I think the biggest impact would be for the game / games to have parity with launching on other systems. So it might be a new game that releases along side PS4 and XBox1. Or it might be a remaster of a current game, maybe a new version of GTAV (sigh), that would, again, be launching on other systems. As it seems to be leveraging as the next Switch and not a new console, they aren't strictly console sellers (the Switch already has those) so if they are third party, I doubt it's something they are working on purely for Switch version 2. If it flops (which I doubt - I can't wait lol) then it's a big hit to them.
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
I figure Nintendo would like to bolster their available selection of games in the genre. I assume S-E and Sega already passed on bringing the games I mentioned above to the original Switch. But with the arrival of the Switch revision...it might be a different story?

What's the bet they make GC on NSO exclusive to the revision and people lose their minds. I don't think they'll do that given there's not much of a technical reason why the Switch as it is can't and I also think GC/Wii libraries are too valuable to just dump on NSO. Even so, the prospect of another SNES VC on 3DS scenario? I would enjoy that. Purely for the inevitable long thread of whine that'd drag out for years.
As for exclusives, other people would be better at speculating than me. But given the potential timing? I could see them launching it alongside of BotW2 and push the "the game runs better on the Pro" as part of the narrative. Also world falling apart scenario for some, Bayonetta 3 isn't out yet and they haven't shown any gameplay footage......
edit:
Watching the video one thing I will say, in terms of positioning of the Switch "Pro". I do think there's something to the idea of letting the existing Switch SKU phase out. And along those lines maybe it's not "Switch Pro" at all. Maybe they just market it as the Switch but have a callout on the box highlighting the increased amount of storage or something.
Which would mean the current Switch would become the "Switch 32GB" and the new one would be the "Switch 128GB" or something.
It wouldn't surprise me if N64 games for NSO were limited to the Switch revision.
SNES games were limited to the New 3DS / 2DS and wouldn't run on a standard 3DS.

@Magician oh man that is dark. What if they made a deal and somehow got the rare 64 games back. And they were all exclusive to the new switch. People would lose their minds at the same time empty their wallets.
True, the Wii U had N64 games. But weren't they individualized releases? Each with different emulation settings, plug-ins, and whatever technical wizardry it took to get those romz running well? I imagine getting those N64 games operating well under one blanket service, one device, would be more...difficult.

@magician Virtual console was just an elaborate eshop filter for retro games. I'm sure it's not an issue
As for N64 mini, I can't see them going into full production of N64 pads again. Analogue stick wasn't the most durable and it would be closer to new hardware than neat gimmick. But, hey, I'm always wrong lol.
Why even have another revision when what we have now is still pretty decent yet? I know it probably will happen as a updated Switch but if Nintendo is really going to shine they need to do something that has never been done before.

@Atomic77 they need a revision and Nintendo needs to show they are aggressive. From a power standpoint it isn’t going to set the world on fire. It will show they intend to stay competitive. Base level ps4 power with more modern architecture is big. Couple that with DLSS and devs and publishers will be very happy.

It gets to the point where the cost of tech at a particular spec stops dropping. It makes sense to sell a revised Switch for the same reason the smallest thumbdrives you can buy now are 16GB. The higher spec doesn't cost much more and the revised product is more compelling

I cannot see it as base level PS4 power as that it would be at least 2x better than OG Switch... And that would be a 500$ system
I have seen the video before and I believe they know what they are talking about but I cannot see many using it as the player base won't be nothing compared with the 90-100M+ of the OG when it launches.
Talking games I could see resident evil 7 and 8 or FF VII alongside Xbox and PC
I'd just assume it's whatever big games are launching on PS4/Xbone still in the next year or two. Warner Bros and Ubisoft have always seemed more eager than most to port games over so my money is on the next Assassin's Creed, Suicide Squad, Hogwarts Legacy or something like that.
Many games developed for the competitor's hardware cannot run on the Switch and even some select games that do such as Doom Eternal and the The Outer World were a struggle for developers because those were developed with more up-to-date hardware in mind. Switch owners are lucky to have such games on the console but developers and publishers are beginning to turn away from the Switch because it uses outdated internal hardware that cannot handle more demanding games.
Given how much Capcom and Square Enix have supported the Switch, I think there'll be games from them that can't run natively on the base Switch like RE2 Remake, RE3 Remake, RE Village, Devil May Cry 5, FFVII Remake, Tomb Raider reboot trilogy (2013 and RotTR could run on base Switch but not SotTR), etc.
