So I ponied up, paid scalper price, for a copy of Gunvein. No regrets. As a shmup fan, the game feels mandatory for the collection. Might have to do the same for Iron Meat? I'm not sure yet.

I don't have the same love for the run'n'gun genre.

Don’t feel guilty, we’ve all been there. There were times I spent more than double MSRP to go back and get physical games I missed at launch - the Famicom Detective Club 1&2 box, the Valiant Hearts/Child of Light dual pack, and Mechstermination Force come to mind.

As long as you get your money’s worth of enjoyment from it, right? I hope Gunvein does it for you!

@Teksette - Wait, the Famicom Detective Club had a physical? Or are we talking about the JP variant, with no English options?

Yes, exactly - it was the Japanese physical release. It lacks English, but that doesn’t scare me off - especially since the games are so well voice acted and there’s even kana readings for all the kanji characters. It’s good Japanese practice while solving mysteries. 😁

I was tempted to buy it years ago, but held off until Emio was announced and I was feeling like it’s time to get into this series. By then the asking price went way up, though. 😓
It stinks that Emio got a physical release in the West, but not the previous games.

@Teksette - Hey, no shame in that. I just didn't pick it up because it was very language heavy, and I am simply not that well versed in Japanese.

I also remember seeing a slip-up from Nintendo's PR on Xwitter with Switch releases, showing a box art of the original 2 releases. I wonder if there really was intent to release it back then.

Had my first hiccup with an international order. Ordered from Hong Kong a couple weeks ago. Package has been in limbo for over a week. Then USPS updated their website.

Raising all kinds of hell in the video game collecting space.

Seems that retailers are starting to put up preorders for the non-LRG version of Soul Reaver 1+2. I noticed there's listings on Amazon UK but not live just yet.

With LRG's preorder window closing on Sunday, that lines up. They probably had a timed exclusivity deal.

Videogamesplus just opened preorders for an ESRB release themselves, so I wonder what that was about with limited quantities at LRG?

Cheers for the heads up on the EU PEGI release, I was on the lookout for that.

It fits with my assumption that it went from opening preorders as a numbered limited print release to being a distribution title the following day. Seems like LRG goofed in communication with their parent company, lol? Oh well, mistakes happen.

We still don't know the "new" Switch #252 yet, right?

I was wondering how the tangerine man’s tantrum tariffs would affect my retail orders from Playasia. I’m lucky in that my last delivery arrived just before Inauguration Day. It’ll be awhile before I place any more. I’ll stick to Japanese retailers for the foreseeable future, or until the mafia boss levies tariffs on Japan, too. At least he relented on Canada for now, since VGP is working on a couple orders for me.

It’s really unfortunate you get to be among the earliest guinea pigs in dictator don’s brave new world of geopolitical bullying and middle-class erasure. But cheer up! It’s likely most of us who aren’t millionaire republican donors will share your suffering soon enough.

I do hope USPS releases your shipment to you soon, though.

But sir, didn’t you watch the Defenders of the Earth cartoon after school in the 80s? You know, the one where The Phantom teams up with Flash Gordon and Mandrake the Magician to take on Ming the Merciless? That cartoon wasn’t bad, even if it was slim pickings back then. It was enough to instill a little nostalgia in me for the Ghost Who Walks and his comic-strip pals.

I might just take a chance on this game, though I’m afraid the choppiness of the animation will be an unwelcome distraction.

Can I just ask and make sure that somewhere along the lines, I haven't missed a Portal Collection physical. I would have thought someone would have jumped at that straight away.

Yes you’d have thought a physical release for the Portal games would have been automatic! I’d have bought it for sure! But for some reason, it’s remained digital-only, and I’ve yet to buy off of the eShop and try these vaunted games. I even skipped it last Xmas when it was heavily discounted, down to like $5 IIRC.
