I’m new here and just bought an Switch OLED. Happy with it! We have several (30) fysical games to play. This model has 64GB intern storage. Do I need an SD card when I only play with card and no downloaded games? Could you please advise?

Samsung EVO Plus 128GB is just $10 on Amazon, so that’s not the point. I just don’t like to buy unnecessary things.

You should be fine without, though some titles (usually non-Nintendo published) require you to still essentially download the entire game. Game cartridge is just a ‘key’ to play.

@N82 Also, just so you know, game save data is always stored on the switch internal memory (not on cartridges). So, it doesn't matter if you have a physical game first and want the digital version later on, or the other way around.

As another said Game saves uses the Storage to saves game and data and that is why the sd card is important for Digital games to store plus updates. You internal will be most helped by getting at least a 400gb or even 1tb sd card to store Digital games and updates.

@SwitchForce Unless it's Spyro Trilogy, which only has the first game on the cart, or part of the first game.😉 Granted, that doesn't happen often, and that's not an issue for official Nintendo games.

@WoomyNNYes As you said there are some games where it's 3 games and only one is cart the rest is Digital download and this is where having a sd card to store the digital download helps otherwise your using precious internal storage for game saves that can't be put on a sd cart which they should allow. But this becomes a issue once your game library Digital starts to grow and it will - it's a matter of time.
