Topic: Switch not turning on - help!

My Switch stopped charging and shows a battery sign in the top left with a small red stripe. I returned it to Nintendo about six weeks ago and it came back yesterday. They claim they couldn't find a fault but this is crazy, considering it won't charge or turn on. How can they have tested it!

Is there a way to re-set it? Is this a common fault and if so, will a new charger resolve it?

Many thanks for any help.

@marcusjames If the battery depletes completely, the Switch will not turn on immediately upon connecting it to a charger - it needs to get to at least 3% charge (or similar). So make sure you have connected a charger (that you know works - test it on another USB-C device) and left it charging for a while - 30 minutes should be more than enough normally, but you might need more if you're using an underpowered charging device.

If it's still not turning on then you need to return it to the repair centre and demand evidence (e.g. a photo) to demonstrate that they can get it working.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

What charger are you using? Did you first use the OEM Dock to charge? Using any other unapprove 3rd party charger and or not verified correct V/A is also a problem as well. So Did you first use the NIN Dock to charge? It sounds like your using non OEM Dock to charge.

@marcusjames Like gcunit & SwitchForce said, if the Switch battery was fully drained, the Switch will need to charge a while before it will let you turn it on. Be sure to use the Nintendo branded charger/dock(and not a third party charger, sometimes there are problems with third party chargers, forgive me if you already know that). If it doesn't start after 30 minutes of charging, I would let it charge for an hour or two before you go through the hassle of sending it to Nintendo. I don't think you'll need to charge it that long to start it, but I think you can agree, you want to give the Switch a good chance, because sending it to Nintendo takes way longer.
