Topic: Switch Lite Local Play Help

I have 2 Nintendo Switch Lite systems, one for each kid. I just figured out how to connect them as friends, however I can't seem to find the option for them to play together. Attempting to play Super Mario 3D World, which says it is available for local and online up to 4 players, but I have no idea how to link them up. Is it an issue if it is a downloaded game that is shared between the two devices? Appreciate any help. Thank you

@Hartso11
1.You need two copies of the game, one gamer per console.
2.Local wireless(bluetooth) works though the Switch wifi. So, wifi has to be turned on for both consoles.

If you haven't tried searching Nintendo support, it's a very good resource. They've got directions for most everything, also have a customer support line & chat messenger.

Thank you for the reply. I have one downloaded copy loaded on each console, but it appears as though it wont allow a share that way. Appreciate the help and the link.

It can't be a shared game? Since only one person can play that at once! If they want to play it together, they each need to own the game

@BruceCM My gut says, @Hartso11's problem may be a primary vs secondary console issue? Unless I'm misreading the situation.

@Hartso11 If your issue is account related, each conosle may need it's own account. Which means you need to buy the game twice, once per console. Unless someone else here has a simple way to troubleshoot, I think your quickest way to get to a solution & understanding would be to call nintendo. With this type of issue, it usually takes 3-5 more replies here to get someone up to speed (not your fault ) Since you may need several back and forth questions and steps, calling a nice nintendo rep will be the quickest way to an understanding.

Like I said, though.... unless someone else here has a simple way to troubleshoot & explain.

Yeah, that's why I thought I'd say they each need to own a copy for that ..... They say it's a shared game, so that's definitely the 1st thing to sort out!

Yes, they are able to play the same game at the same time on separate switches under separate profiles. But when you try to select the same profile under both switches simultaneously, it says you are currently playing on another device.
I’m getting that same message when on separate profiles and I try to link the two together to play over wifi.
Appreciate the help from you both. I’ll try Nintendo help to see if there is anything to do but I probably do need a second copy of the game. Thanks again.

@Hartso11 Sounds like both Switch consoles are linked to the same Nintendo account (the account you created on nintendo's website). And you need to link Switch B to a seperate account. There are a couple ways to do that, I believe.

One way is to make a second nintendo account(on nintendo's website) with a different email address.

The other way is to log into your existing nintnedo account (on nintendo's website) and you can add a family member, which essentially gives you another nintendo account without needing a second email address. I think I've got that right? But, this is where talking to someone at nintendo can help. There's anothe step or two, and likely need explaining, but it's been a year since I very clumsily walked someone through it. Someone at Nintendo can help parse it out much quicker than I.

If you call nintendo support, they may point you to a page of directions on their support page. If you have their support page up when you call, it can really streamline things.

In my experience, calling nintendo has been a postive experience, which I can't say for calling other companies. I've used their support line at 3 or 4 times myself. If they ask for your email, don't be afraid to tell them, it's just to keep track of why you called, in case you call back. They keep notes, which really streamline's things if you do call back
