@LavaTwilight I actually found the bottom path to be easier. Probably because I don't have the patience to quietly wait on those flying platforms.

@mauhlin12 I like how the buzzy beetles act as stand-ins for bats. And, of course, your recreation of the giant enemy bat at the end of the stage.

@Ralizah Thanks! I wish there was a Hammer Bros suit in MM2, that would mimic the axe sub-weapon then the giant bat fight would be much more like the real thing.

Just finished a level where you enter marios home, "go to sleep" and fight bowser in your nightmares. (hard to explain hahaha)

Home sweet home

@Ralizah there is so much cool stuff. Believe it or not. I've yet to figure out how to warp to another area thru a pipe when creating a level. I know i know....beginner... I'm still working thru the beginner kinks lol

And if your level making skills are anything like your reviewing of games skills I think we'll be in for a treat 😉

@NintendoByNature Just create a warp pipe, place it, drag mario on top of it, let go, and then you'll be prompted to create an exit pipe in a sub-area. Ta-da!

A lot of it isn't intuitive. Or at least, it wasn't to me. MM2 is better about not gating content behind weird actions, though. For example, in MM1, if you wanted to change a koopa troopa from green to red, if I recall correctly, you had to shake it with your stylus.

@NintendoByNature
Drag Mario into a pipe in edit mode and it'll prompt you to place an exit pipe in the sub area. Can do as many like this back and forth as you like.

@Ralizah
Played your level. Pretty hard but I liked the challenge.

Also, I discovered how you got the 10 second time on Luigi's Last Mansion... brilliant. That wasn't even something I intended when designing it, the player was meant to find the feather via the door (like 4 or 5 other hidden feathers in the course but not right there where the secret is near).

Like the course lessons say, players will ALWAYS do things you dont anticipate. And while I can appreciate the desire to control the experience as intended, I rather like that you broke sequence. That's the kind of thing that makes courses interesting imo.

Btw, Speedrunner's Delight will be up within the hour or so.

A sky level that's somewhat short, but moderately challenging. This is the first original level that I've uploaded.

@JaxonH Thanks. Not sure about the level design. I tried to balance a sense of urgency (thus the short timer, the thwomp that won't actually hit you but hopefully startles new players a bit and gets them moving, and the coins early on intended to help players decipher where to jump to navigate early challenges quickly) with a simultaneous sense of mindfulness about their surroundings (thus why some of the flames will fry you if you start going too quickly). I also wanted to make it challenging without also cluttering up the level. I'm not sure how well I succeeded, though.

I've played through some levels that are very clean, but still INCREDIBLY challenging, and that force you to manipulate Mario's physics in interesting ways. Thankfully I've not encountered any kaizo-style levels that require hundreds of tries to get through, although I'm sure they're coming. I like platforming challenges (if you couldn't already tell), but there's a point where it becomes so hard that I just lose interest.

Which exit did you take, btw?

I'm a bit amazed you didn't even intend for that exit in the Luigi's Mansion level to be accessed so immediately, though. I thought the random feather that was just barely within reach of the starting point was a sign that there was more to the area than initially met the eye. Lo and behold! It took a lot of tries to get down to ten seconds, though. It was really easy to accidentally activate the cape near the hidden warp pipe and waste a second drifting to the ground.

A pair of levels where being fast is the only way to finish.
3N6-73B-MNG: Totally Gnarly Thwomp Surfing
CQW-J01-G6G: Ghostly Walls & Narrow Halls

Gimmick level where you have to bounce on the back of a wiggler
KT7-2NC-0JF: Stampeding Wiggler by the River

About JaxonH’s level, yeah, I assumed you expected the player to jump, get the feather, and initiate flight right afterwards.

Mario gets a huge boost and reaches the ceiling immediately.

I never even saw the rest of the level

Wowser Bowser Castle:

1P5-Q54-MKF

My first serious attempt at making at what I think is a difficult course. It takes some patience and precision to pull off some of the jumps and areas but I hope it’s not too hard. Feedback would be appreciated on this one.

ROCK AND tROLL:

P3M-V4Q-G6G

My first course ever and it was made quickly without too much effort hoping to punish people with trolly traps but nothing crazy. It’s pretty quick and simple once you know where the traps are, if that.

If you only pick one to play, I would like for you to try Wowser Bowser Castle. I’d be happy to try all players courses who tried mine, whatever the difficulty. Thanks.

Edit: I made another course that is based off collecting mushrooms frantically and using the invincibility frames from getting hit by traps to navigate the stage. It’s a little difficult but not as hard as ‘Wowser Bowser Castle’ to me.

It’s called “Not Mushroom For Error”

The third character is a ‘zero’.

Here it is, gents...

Speedrunner’s Delight
L5Y-B62-80G

If you’re good enough you can make it all the way through the entire double length stage running, without stopping.

@Ralizah and just for you, I balanced the secret warp to take approximately the exact same time as a standard run, maybe a second longer in my trial run. Hard to say. I didn’t want the warp to ruin any attempts to speed run the stage in full. So at least now it’s close enough that one would have to try both methods to see which is faster, and even then it’s going to come down to microseconds.

@Morpheel
Well I’m glad you found an even cooler exit than intended!

But the stage itself is really, really awesome. I want to make stages good enough the player wants to replay to find the different exits and paths through, like you would in a real Mario game.

There is actually a second secret exit but it’s a secret within a secret. But if you find it you will end up in the same secret room with fireworks, I’m not sure if you noticed but there’s also a floating door in that room besides the pipe you come out of. That’s where you come from with the other secret exit.

@Ralizah
I’ve got the mushroom and ran across the spikes taking a hit but barely making it to the goal in time. I saw there was a green pipe but I wasn’t sure if that was a secret or just there for window dressing.

@JaxonH It's a good level. I'm going to have to play around with it later. Got my time down to under a minute, but I feel like I can do much better if I figure out an "optimal" route.
