Topic: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

I've reached Champions Road again. I completed it once on Wii U but I'm not getting anywhere with it on Switch so far, even using Tanooki Peach. I think I'll just practice a little every day.

Difficulty definitely has an uptick when you reach post game. I doubt I'll do what's necessary to unlock Champion's Road (I wasn't able to clear Darker Side in Odyssey, which I hear is easier), but I'll see how far I can handle in post game before moving on to Bowser's Fury. I last beat ⭐-2 & unlocked the secret character.

Kinda disappointed in the final story boss. It's certainly not the worst final boss fight in the series, but I've never been a big fan of the "chase" style confrontations (I prefer an actual rumble, like in 64 or Galaxy), and up until then the game had completely forgone them, which I liked.

I'm almost at Champion's Road. I have everything in all the levels up to the second bonus world, so now I'm working on that. Difficulty is definitely there at this point.

I beat Champion's Road for the first time last night! It's no easy feat, but I finally did it. I'm considering 3D World complete - getting everything in all the levels is good enough for me.

Nice! I just made it. I did the final Captain Toad, got like half of the mystery box level or whatever. Tried Champion's Road just for fun with no power-ups and yea... lol Gonna have to get back to that. Do you get anything super special after beating the final levels and getting everything in them?

@MarioLover92 Congrats! Just finishing the level is quite a feat and I was also done with the game once I beat it with Mario. Will probably come back with the remaining characters at some point though!

@rallydefault Assuming that in finishing Champion's Road you've now completed every level with the same character, you'll get one of five character stamps. The remaining four stamps are obtained by completing every stage with the remaining characters.

Oh, woof. I've kinda of done a mix. Most levels I played as Mario, but then some near the end just with Peach. I'll probably just beat Champion's Road to say I did it. Going back with every character... I'll save that for a gaming draught lol

@timleon Yeah, I may come back to the game later to beat the levels with all the characters for that fifth star on my save file. That shouldn't be too hard since I got all the green stars, stamps, and gold flags already. One character at a time though, to make it feel less like busywork. I'm taking a break from it since I just beat Champion's Road, so I don't want to get burnt out, lol.

@rallydefault Not really. The game pretty much stops at World Crown. And yeah, Mystery Box Marathon is a pretty brutal level, since there's a whopping 30 green stars and if you run out of time in any room, you're back to square one. It's my least favorite level in the game because of that.

Hrm... yea, now that I think of it beating every level with each character really isn't that bad if all you have to do is reach the pole. I'll try to do it over the long run, I think.

@rallydefault Honestly, based on the difficulty of Champion's Road, I fully anticipate that trying to beat that single level again with the other characters will take about as long as running through the other levels combined. The challenge in the game isn't so much in finishing the levels as it is in collecting everything IMO. And Champion's Road is probably the most challenging experience I've had in a Mario game (although not the most frustrating...)

There's the trick of plugging in another controller to claim additional characters when hitting the flag pole...but tbh I want to complete this legitimately. Part of the fun is giving every character their moment to shine (and tbh the game feels quite different with Peach and Rosalina IMO!)

Yea, I totally agree that the challenge mostly lies in getting all the stuff. For most levels, even the bonus worlds, reaching the flag pole really isn't that tough. But in some of them, keeping your power up or making a tricky jump for the stamp or that last star is where the challenge is.

And yea, Champion's Road is challenging. I was telling my wife last night that I'm not used to a platforming level that legitimately challenges me like this one is lol

@MarioLover92 they look nice but do seem like they will get damaged easily. The US usually always get the better stuff. I would of loved the Mario 35 pins 😀

I'm starting to find the giant Bowser constantly disrupting the flow in Bowser's Fury annoying. 😑 You're in a beautiful open world but you can't explore it in peace. Can't help but feel it's just a cheap way to make the game feel longer and drag the time out. There's no way of collecting an item or anything to turn it off right?
