Hello,
Today I decided check my phones router option settings, because at 2018-08-26 I picked up Galaxy Note9 with unlimited internet plan, and only thing I checked and changed was password there, but around year ago+- my NS started download everything super slower with that internet. Small updates for big games goes from half to whole day when I'm awake, big updates for big games takes 2 days when I'm awake and big games fresh downloads takes even more. After I checked those settings I found out there was 2 more settings, but only 1 matters and matters much, and that is Ghz. Looks like since the date mentioned at begging of thread I was using 2,4 Ghz, but there is 5 Ghz option too. So I decided try it, but my NS couldn't connect to after that, then decided restart it, but then it couldn't find connection/bars at all even remembered connection is still there. So I wanna know if I totally remove remembered connection will it find and connect to new 5 Ghz connection?
Thank you in advance for your answers!

Switch does support 5ghz wifi, so it should be no issue. Maybe double check if you didn't mess up any of the other settings while browsing? I indeed think your best shot now is to just remove the connection. Can't hurt much as you can always revert to the 2.4 ghz one and set-up that one again.

Though phone internet can be great I am not suprised that the DL is slow. For me a hotspot has never been as stable and fast as regular internet. e.g. I had to use my hotspot for work one day, and video calls were impossible, even though I have a very stable 4g connection.

Good luck friend!

@Cissero roger, I guess I will try.
As I told it extremely slowdown around year+-, because I remembering downloading Paladins multiple times faster and even some other things, so.

PS: is going from 2,4 Ghz to 5 Ghz changes internet speed or what it changes if not?

@SViper 5ghz is definitely faster indeed. Ofcourse everything is still limited by the speed your provider allows. It might be that they made some changes in this due to corona and more people using their hotspots while working from home.

Yeah @Cissero, possible, but still.

So unless your Smartphone is connected to a hotspot that is fast and used as wifi connection it's not going to be any faster then the phone connection to the wifi. And if router you need to check your channel when using 5G to find right channel for best connection as for 2.4G it usually has a auto settings to find the best channel. So you need to readup on your router to setup correctly if your having wifi connection issues. The Switch can go 2.4/5G but your router must have Dual band to do that otherwise you have 2.4G router basic. So again check on your router settings and owners manual for setup.

@SwitchForce huh, you just told absolutely unnecessary information, because we talking here about using phone as internet source. And with G you mean Ghz? Because of thread theme some people could thing you talking about G in mobile internet not Ghz.

So I chose that my phone route 5 Ghz instead 2,4 Ghz again and this time I deleted previous settings from my Nintendo Switch, but still my NS can't connect to my phone with 5 Ghz while it easy connects to 2,4 Ghz setting.

Now I even went to check for more information and found out that Nintendo Switch can't connect to 150+ channels. Then I finally found channels option, but it only appears for 2,4 Ghz with Automatic and 1-11 channel possibilities, but for 5 Ghz that option totally disappears. I now give up at this point.

@SViper
Did you ever solve this problem?
I have similar issues with mobile conection. My home broadband is absolutely pants, slow speed & disconnects, so I use mobile hotspot connection (4g) for gaming. Its ten times the speed of my home internet and stable, perfectly fine for Fortnite, Splatoon etc. However.... when it comes to downloading or updates on Switch using mobile, its at a crawl, three times slower than the 2,5mbs I get on my home connection. Speed test on the console indicates the mobile connecton is faster but it isn't reflected on downloading.
Its only on Switch. Downloading torrents is at the speeds it should be.
Tried 5ghz hotspot connection, won't connect either despite seeing it, and no way of changing channels.

@inkpool You may need to tag the user with the @ symbol to get their attention.

I think there may be something with UK internet, every once in a while there seems to be a pattern of someone in the UK having trouble connecting their Switch to wifi. Nintendo support can have good troubleshooting. If you've already done that, you can disregard this last bit.

@WoomyNNYes
Thanks. It was late when I posted,
I have no problem connecting or playing, its the disparity in speed of downloading, literally the reverse of what should be happening.
