@basswitch I think it would be cool if they added dlc levels as branching paths, so you can take different routes through arcade mode. It would also be cool if you got character specific endings.

According to the postal tracking information, my LRG order for SoR 4 finally arrived at my doorstep. What an excellent way to start my weekend. The SoR series has a special place in my heart. I remember the days when I was a wee lad. My mother and I would spend the evening playing Genesis games, oftentimes we would play straight through the trilogy.

Good times...good times.

And now...finally...the saga continues.

@Magician your copy is just arriving from sor4? That's insane! I got mine in the summer I believe. Did you have a special edition or something?

My order for SoR 4 was paired with Tiny Metal, the inventory for which only just arrived at LRG.

What a great blast from the past. Played through the story mode in one sitting, loved every minute. Lots of callbacks from the pasted games. The best looking and best playable entry in the series, no question. The only low point was the soundtrack. It doesn't reach the nostalgia SoR 1 & 2 hold with me. And yet the audio isn't as experimental as SoR 3, which is a good thing.

SoR 2 > SoR 4 > SoR 1 > SoR 3

A shining example of how good the genre can be.

Digital Version of SoR4 appears as separate game than of Physical Version of SoR4...

...I don't know if anyone else has this same problem, or if there's a solution (I scanned through this thread and didn't find any mention) ...so, I often will pick-up Physical copies of games I've already downloaded as Digital (...like, for instance, when it's a game I love and the Physical version becomes available later ...or is on-sale/discounted) ...usually, when I insert the Physical copy, (...for instance, to get Gold-Points) it just co-ops the existing title's Digital copy menu thumbnail ...SoR4, however, creates a separate menu item with its own, identical-looking, menu thumbnail (...and a separate save file!) ...so, if I click the wrong one, it won't load without a game-card (...as I said, I've several games where this is not an issue) ...is there a fix for this!? ...it's annoying that this one game is in my menu twice and doesn't share game-data between the two! ...I've tried all combinations of deleting one or the other or both and then reinstalling and they always appear as separate games.

Just played through story mode, I thought it was fantastic! Really good game, graphics and music especially.

Is there a way to unlock the 16-bit Genesis Character sprites from the start rather than having to beat the game?

I think the only way is to play through the game.
