Topic: Streaming with HDMI Splitter?

Hey Guys, wanted to ask you if somebody knows an answer to my question.
So i had a conversation with my step-brother a few days ago, about streaming on twitch with my nintendo switch.
The only thing i've heard of was streaming with a capture card (e.g. elgato). My step-brother then asked me why i would spend 100$+ on a capture card instead of buying an HDMI Splitter and connecting the Output to my screen and my computer. So my question: Is it possible the way he told me? If yes, do you have any experiences?

If no, do you have any good capture cards which arent that expensive?

Do you have an HDMI input for your computer? The biggest advantage of the capture card is that you can play on the full resolution but capture/stream in a lower resolution. Since my internet is too slow, I have to use this feature.

Well I do have an HDMI Port on my Motherboard, would this work?
My Internet is pretty fast, i could stream in full hd without getting into trouble, so thats not the point

I would say that you can test this without a splitter. Just put the Switch with HDMI in and see if it works.

Very good! You need a good upload speed for this. How fast is it for you?

No, you need a video capture device of some kind

Avermedia cards are a bit cheaper than the Elgato ones from what I have seen. No idea on the quality of them as I don't have one. With that said, here's a video review for one of the cheaper Avermedia cards
