In my thought, Necron was much like a Random Dangerous creatures that felt disgust with the Sins of Universe, so that driven him to Destroy the Universe when Zidane cs suddenly fell down on Underworld. That i thought they were. supposed to be "Dead" after Kuja's Suicide Attack.
Anyway, Necron's theme was soooooo Creepy at the Beginning. Sounds of suffering souls in pain, the eerie sounds, creepy....

@Anti-Matter You're pretty much right about Necron. But my problem was that it came out of nowhere, a bit disappointing for such big build up. And the last area of the game had so many boss fights. Too much.

And yeah, his theme was so creepy! But then it turns into this really cool battle theme, I loved that.

Not really. Yevon is mentioned from the beginning. Yu Yevon isn't mentioned until the scene where you get thrown into prison in Bevelle.

But they can always retrospectively make it so that the late-revealed villain had always been behind events. They could do that with Necron too if they'd tried harder.
I'm saying that it matters how late into the story the main villain is revealed. It probably shouldn't be after the halfway mark.

To be honest, I'd rather have new mid-tier games than ports of existing games. Just give me a new Final Fantasy Tactics. I'll even settle for Tactics Ogre at this point. Also, the Switch is the perfect console for a Crystal Chronicles revival. Just throwing that out there.

FF9 is my favorite of all time still, BUT I just don't accept the end as canon....Necron made no sense and was a sudden deus ex machina tossed int because they apparently ran out of cohesive ideas. The rest is great, but that Necron part was idiotic at best.

Though Jenova really didn't make much appearance until late and made little role in the story until it appeared out of nowhere IMO. 7 doesn't fare much better. Yevon was the central operational theme in all of X. You didn't know much specifically about "Yu Yevon" but your were innundated by Yevon from the start, all things revolved around Yevon. Learning WHO he is comes later but it feels appropriately foreshadowed that the godhead of the universe that all the shady seeming churches are tied to is actually responsible for most of everything.

Of course it's clear the Xenoblade crew is the old FF crew.....they're also experts at making up enemies and final boss scenarios pop out of thin air with zero foreshadowing. "Oh good, I finally got to the en...wait...uhm....WTF?"

FFIII, though, I can't say it was a surprise end....I can't say I comprehended any of the story really anyway.....it almost made sense but didn't, and then suddenly it's turn-based Monster Hunter and then you resume the story.

Necron represents my personal issue with Final Fantasy's storytelling. They always tend to go for more convoluted plots (which leaked into Kingdom Hearts), rather than a cohesive plot that makes sense beginning to end. The last area of FF9 seemed so disconnected from what started out as a more political/Shakespearean story. Also, I'm really starting to hate "the Crystal". FFXV was the last straw, I'm out.
I agree that FFX was more cohesive and the idea of rejecting tradition was cool too. But man, Tidus could've been better.

@Snaplocket You just had to slip in Chrono Trigger huh?

Let me school you. (joking).

Magus' character arc alone is more substantial and in-depth than any FFX character.
You want a strong female character? Look no further than Schala.
Can't forget about Crono's sacrifice either.
Marle is a fresh take on the tiresome Princess steroetype.
Robo's struggle against Mother Brain is freaking awesome, and even expands into Chrono Cross.
Bruh? Want more?

See here's the issue. I can do the same thing:
Tidus - Daddy issues
Wakka - LOL I LIEK SPORTZ
Kimahri - I trust my human friends
Yuna - I'm so good and perfect
Rikku - Comedy Relief (not even good though)
Auron - I'm strong and tough with a tragic backstory
Lulu - fanservice

Where does this leave us? Nowhere.

Edit: Nice sneak message there. But you started defending FFX despite no one calling it out.

"I agree that FFX was more cohesive and the idea of rejecting tradition was cool too. But man, Tidus could've been better."

In my opinion, FF X more focused on Yuna story than Tidus. Same with FF XII, More focused on Ashe than Vaan. On FF XIII, it was All about Lightning.

Oh, about FF XV, if i compare FF X-2 with FF XV :
FF X-2 : FF Charlie's Angel
FF XV : Epic Fail FF J-Boy Band

@Snaplocket Well I'm glad you see the point I was trying to make. This whole thing is pointless. You don't have to like everything, but at the same at saying stuff like "CT definitely doesn't have anything" is counter-productive to discussion. Just like I skipped over key points of FFX, so did you about CT.

And no, my opinions are not set in stone because FFX is my favourite main series Final Fantasy. I don't actually think the things I said, it was to prove a point.

@Snaplocket I always found it weird it was disliked. Great battle system, great story and characters, excellent music. I think FFX falls into a weird spot. Everything before X is "classic FF" (6,7,8 etc.) while everything after it is when the direction shifted (mainly 13, and now 15). That's why so there's so much debate that FFX is the last good FF, or the first bad FF.

Also, just my final words on that topic, Chrono Cross is so much better than CT. Have you played that one?

@Snaplocket Just out of curiosity seeing as through you're a big FFX fan, what're your thoughts on FFX-2? I never played it since it looked a bit odd and haven't heard too many great things about it either.
