@Jambomakaveli I use Revolut and just bought Streets of Rage 4 from the South African Eshop the other day. Check your Revolut account, perhaps your card is frozen. If that doesn't work, make a new virtual card. With a standard Revolut account, I'm pretty sure it let's you do that.
So.... I’m able to add my virtual revolut card to PayPal and then pay with PayPal on the uk store. So this shows me that there isn’t a problem with revolut.
The problem is with using revolut on the South African store, but then again... I can’t use my own debit or credit cards on the uk store.
I even made a brand new Nintendo account, and put the region as South Africa, and it wouldn’t work.
In short.... I can’t use any credit or debit or virtual card, on any Nintendo eshop, with any account. Foreign or U.K.
It’s the strangest thing. Really frustrating.
Ps..... I love our Willie. My gran bought me it every year for Christmas when I was younger!
@Jambomakaveli
Hi, I am also having the same issue with SA eshop. Tried all cards, Monzo, Starling, Revolut, Revolut virtual card. Even tried creating another new Nintendo account for the South Africa region, same error saying cannot use my credit card. This had happened in the past but after waiting a while it will allow me to buy again with my Halifax Clarity card but after 3 weeks still no luck. I have tried removing saved card details and re-adding as that worked in the past. Anybody else experiencing this and have a workaround?
UK account is fine using my default cards. I now have to use Mexico Paypal account as its the next cheapest store, so Im paying few pence to a quid extra which is annoying
My issue is slightly worse than yours then. I can’t use any card on any store. Not even my default uk store.
So basically I have a slight workaround....
I have a PayPal linked to my default uk account. This works no problem for any of the other European stores if I switch to them. Russia, poland etc.
For every game I’m after, the South African price is generally always cheapest, but you can’t use PayPal on it. BUT... generally one of the European stores is not far behind cost wise. Usually pence, or the odd pound.
I’m fine with this for the time being. I will sit tight now for a whole month before trying my card again, as I was told it can take this long by a live chat nintendo agent 3 weeks ago. I got impatient and was sure it would work when I tried a few days ago. This time I will leave it a whole 30 days or slightly more. I have also emailed Nintendo in the meantime, so I’ll see what they say.
My initial frustration isn’t so bad as I can get the games almost as cheap as South Africa using the other European stores.
I’d still love to know what the he’ll is going on though. It literally makes no sense.
@Jambomakaveli I just read that the new Switch update fixes a credit card issue and remembered your post. Perhaps it fixes the problem you were having.
@OorWullie Thanks for letting me know. Sorry delayed response as my account was temp barred for some reason until now.
Just tried but still same problem. Anybody else have any luck please?
I’m in the uk, bought games from the South African eshop 3 weeks ago as they were cheaper, and after buying a few it would no longer work.
Gave the error “2813-2470 you cannot use this credit card. Please check with your credit card company for details”
I have left it 3 weeks and now I’ve tried again and it won’t work.
This is using Revolut, which is a virtual debit card. It worked when I started using it, but stopped working after buying a few games.
Is everyone else able to use this method?
Same issue...with something worse to add...
Can't really use my PayPal account because I used Google Authenticator and something went wrong and now my PayPal account is blocked and they can only solve it trough to the call center...that is closed due to covid 19 for now...
Loosing so many good games at the moment...damn it
Oh my days, Nintendo support is hopeless...4th fob off email:
"We thank you for your patience.
We inform you that ours sytems work as intended and we do not see an issue on our side. We kindly ask you to consult with your credit card institute/bank, or to do the purchases via Paypal Account or prepaid eShop cards.
I would say CC issue most likely something with the CC issuer and you will have to call them. This isn't a Nintendo eShop problem unless your account was flagged by NIN itself. And even then you would get a email to the registered account probably telling the issue. So did anyone with NOS or NIN account check their email reply back if they had a email address. And also did those emailing email Nintendo eShop of South Africa contact or did you email Nintendo UK for Nintendo South Africa support for issue they can't deal with? I asked but I don't see that people said which Nintendo Support Country they emailed for support here. That could also be a issue as well emailing the wrong support for something that could be email to the Region Support email.
Are all the cards issued in S. Africa banking system? Didn't know if one was in UK or another location. So what did NIN eShop of S. Africa support say about the transaction if there was any logged?
South Africa said nothing at all. The error I got was Purchase Could Not Be Completed, contact your bank for more details.
Something here doesn't sound right-I've gotten that before when using a CC for first time on overseas purchase and had to contact my CC Bank and confirm the purchase. This is a Bank problem not Nintendo eShop problem just from that statement but I am from NA so that could be different but it sounds alot like the issues I had when buying from Japan or EU online retailers.
