Topic: Sonic Mania: Chemical Plant Act 2 boss when you are colourblind

It's impossible. Apparently there are yellow and light green blobs, and blue and purple blobs, but I can't tell them apart and keep losing. This sucks because I'm unable to progress due to my disability. I read that the game on which this boss stage is based has a colourblind mode. I doubt that will be added to Sonic Mania though, so how do I progress?

or ask a friend to beat the boss for you - at least then you could continue playing

It's a bit subtle, but all the beans actually have different shapes and eye positions.

Like...
Red -> leaning left.
Purple -> leaning right.
Blue -> has a "tail".
Yellow -> has a "horn".
White/Junk -> no special traits, a simple blob.

They do change a bit when they form clusters, but their shapes are still distinct from the other colors. Try to use that.

Modern games in the puyo series made each color have a different expression, too, but this is based on the classic game where they all had their eyes wide open.

I've no idea if this will work but in the Switch settings you can invert display colours. settings > system > change display colours.I'm not sure why that option is even there but if it helps you beat the boss it'll have served a purpose.

I had the same problem. Thankfull Eggman can never get more a two combo on you and always plays around black puyo rather than trying to clear them.

But having played Puyo i know them by shape not colour. Yeah playing it back and trying by colour is impossible

As NintendoPete said I would ask a friend too and continue playing after this boss.

I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee

Great tips. I hope this thread helps others. I cleared it using my daughter to yell which the colours were and me yelling "you have to be faster than that!"

This is all starting to sound like people playing the Candy Crush game show. Oh yeah, that's a thing. Teams of two, usually shouting colours to match at each other.

Alone, a force. Together, a force of nature.

I would hate to have you on my splatoon team

Tasuki

Just put colorblind mode on. Most modern games have that in the option mode.

@riChchestM You dont. Ive only played one game with a mode likr that since 2015 and that was DOOM. Its not as common as he says.

@BLP_Software I don't know I have seen it in CoD Black Ops 3 and MWR, Also in Doom, Overwatch and Battlefield 1. I belive it's also in GTA V as well. Might be just a FPS thing though.

@Tasuki Seems like something an FPS would benefit from given the camera literally being eyes and thus seeing things in a different way.

Looks like you found a solution that was not only beneficial, but fun as well.

@the_shpydar: There is a rare form of colorblindness where the individual can only see colors in different shades of black, gray, and white (Achromatopsia). Partial colorblindness is much more common.

That's ... that's not what color-blindness is.

that's why i asked. But dogs see black and white and grey.

riChchestM

Colour blindness varies. In my case the blue and purple blobs look identical. Same for the light green and yellow ones.

@Samus7Killer That myth is 100% not true. Dogs do in fact see color, it's just limited. They can see blue and yellow, but not red and green.

To most humans, our color spectrum looks like this.
Untitled

For dog's, it looks like this.
Untitled

This information has been known for awhile, but the outdated myth keeps on sticking around.
