I didn't like Skyward Sword when I first played. I don't know if I just hated it because of the shoddy motion controls or because there was no overworld, or what. But I ended up disliking it when I finally finished it. I hope Skyward Sword HD comes out so I can give it another shot and hopefully come away liking it more than I did the first time.
This comes from my own thread of this idea for a remaster, have a read:
I have an idea for a Skyward Sword remaster for the switch, similar to Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD on the Wii U being both released exactly 10 years after original release so this should or will most likely be in 2021, if not earlier.
I'm a defender for the original game, I know many people hate skyward sword for many reasons altho i personally love the game. It is my least favorite 3D Zelda game but I have ideas of how Nintendo could make the game better on the switch.
Motion controls only restricted to sword fighting (with the joy cons, wirelessly)
Optional motion controls for items (beetle, bow and arrow, slingshot, gust bellows, clawshot etc.) and loftwing.
Less annoying Fi, she interupts you alot less, only for the story but not when you're battery goes low or you've been playing for too long or stuff like that...
You only see the notification for the items you collect for the first time ONCE, so after that NEVER again, also not when restarting the game.
Make the clouds in the sky more white-light grey like Barry from Game Grumps suggested in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chYgDqWW6ho
1080p with anti-aliasing (docked) 30 or 60fps but most likely 30fps.
Upgraded textures (and models perhaps)
Maybe more boosts for your loftwing (more than 3, so like 5 to 8 similar to Epona in OoT and TP)
Obviously it's portable now altho you could only play it in table top mode that way but still, skyward sword everywhere you go pretty much
Rolling doesn't decrease stamina
Stamina bar fills up faster when completely empty and Link walks in normal speed when tired instead of panting like a dog.
This might be a stretch but because of BotW having voice acting, maybe add voice acting.
Add Amiibo support (you can tell me some ideas for what the Amiibo could do in the game)
Faster loading times
Further render distance but keep the painting effect because that would look nice in HD I believe.
Add HD rumble support to make you feel the impact of hitting things with your sword more realistic and satisfying.
That's about all the ideas I have for this remaster, tell me below what you think of these ideas. Do you think Skyward Swordt deserves an HD remake and do you think these changes could make this game a lot better and would make the haters perhaps love this game? And what are your ideas? I'd like to know some of your ideas and talk about them in the comments below

Retro games, Modern games, all AWESOME!!!
A remake involves making an old game from scratch again in a new engine (usually). Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D are remakes.
A remaster involves taking a game and doing updates on it to polish it up a little more. This usually means replacing low res textures for the highest res textures you can get with the system its being made for, along with lighting and other little goodies. The whole purpose of a remaster is to take a game that still plays well in modern times but looks atrocious, and make it look a lot easier on the eyes (and update mechanics to be more responsive and nice if possible).
Skyward Sword would be receiving a remaster if it were to be worked on to be released on the Switch. That'd mean crisper visuals and textures, better lighting, better motion controls and maybe even the completely optional possibility to play it without motion controls. I'd prefer them to port WW HD and TP HD over first though. It'd make the console the first one that I can get the best versions of all my favorite Zelda games on. If that were the case, it'd probably be the console I keep with me even when I grow old.
@StuTwo
I think the problem may be in that SS is one of the most divisive Zelda's and that they don't want ports. I know they pad out the release schedule, but a lot of people bought SS since the Wii had a far bigger attach rate, and they could replay it on the Wii U.
Skyward Sword was far too late on arrival to catch an audience outside of the most dedicated fans. Of course judging by the forums here it was well received by a small audience. The idea of bringing a new title and new controls to the system was never going to resonate with the wii sports crowd. So in that sense it was over before it could begin; hence the appeal for a second chance at its legacy.
After watching my son play this just the other day I was thinking this game needs a hd remake desperately. While the graphics were good for its time they don't hold up well at all. I use to think this game looked beautiful but not so much anymore. If it does come I will get it and gladly go through it again!

After playing BotW, I don't want waggle controls anymore. Looking back at Skyward Sword, most of the challenge came from hoping your remote sends the right signal to the game. No thanks...

I doubt the game will be remastered soon due to the motion controls. They would have to overhaul the entire system, which wasn't the case with Twilight Princess, since they had the template of the GameCube version.
I did find some of the fights frustrating due to the motion controls registering the wrong move on a regular basis. I did love what was essentially the origin story for LoZ. Great game, iffy controls.

It amazes me how many people just couldn't figure out the controls. I maybe had to reconfigure my controller 3 times during my whole play through and never once got frustrated. Was a wonderful experience from beginning to the end control wise.

@Spoony_Tech I agree. I might have just gotten lucky. Maybe less interference/steadier hand/just have a higher tolerance for error, but the entire time I never found the controls to be a problem...except for piloting loftwings though, haha
Skyward Sword was not a problem for me to play, even though I had to recalibrate the Wii Motion Plus regularly. I think if they could update the recalibrating system - like Splatoon: with the simple press of a button, or like the Switch Joy-Cons that seemingly do it automatically - and make it HD - and reduce the pop up in the sky overworld (when flying) it would make for a good HD remaster.
There was so much more than sword fighting depending on motion controls, like bomb throwing, bomb bowling, aiming, blocking, flying, a lot of puzzles, etc. There's just a better sense of control when the sword does exactly what you want, you can hold it just the way you want at all times and can execute very accurate strikes and stabs that wouldn't be possible with button controls. If anything, they should make the motion controls even better (and I believe the Joy-Cons can do that exactly). Reducing it to buttons is like cutting one of its fingers off.
The problem certainly occured either by a set up with too much motion control interference or by not learning how to control the game properly or both.
So if the speculation is true Grezzo is working on a HD remake (I'm actually not convinced at all - the evidence is too slight) what do we think?
Is the Zelda circle now complete? Have we all decided that open world Zelda games are abhorrent and feel the need to swing to the exact opposite?
Clearly my initial guess of March 2018 isn't happening but 2018 or 2019?
Likewise what things would we want changing? My personal pick would be not telling me what I've collected every single time I pick up a collectible having restarted the game. I need to be told once and only once.
