Hell no

Switch has very few games outside of Zelda, Arms and Splatoon2. WiiU has BC with Wii and even GC with hacking. It also has Virtual Console and you wont get much for it all. Youll regret trading it all in. I say wait till you save up enough cash to get a switch. They're being restocked. I see them in stores more and more. I saw 8 in a store just yestersay when i got my yellow joys.

Agreed with the above comment. The Wii U has enough benefits and great titles of its own that you will NOT see on the Switch or anywhere else, and the backward compatibility is also definitely a benefit if you still have Wii titles, or want to get some. And there are some great Wii titles that everyone should own.

Also, there's still no official word on Virtual Console or anything like that on the Switch, so other than the Neo Geo ACA titles and a couple of Wii U reboots, you won't have a decent replacement for that yet.

And concerning the grey area of soft-modding your console, that's definitely also a big plus: anything up til GameCube can be installed via a special menu and then you'll have access to any retro console and/or handheld you'd want, including the likes of Neo Geo, N64 and even PSX.

And on a personal note: since having regretted doing it myself once before, I've NEVER traded in any of my handhelds or consoles again. There will always be moments that you will want to revisit that old favorite on any of these systems and emulation just doesn't cut it as far as comparing to the genuine experience, but that's just my personal opinion.

Do you have a Wii and PS4? If you have a Wii but not PS4, trade your Wii U towards a PS4. If you don't have a Wii but already have a PS4, don't trade.

I sold my Wii U when I bought the Switch but I did it because I never liked the Wii U. If I liked Wii U as much as I liked the first Wii I don't think I would have sold it.

I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee

The Wii u is awesome. The switch to me is awesomer but I'd keep my Wii u in your case because of the games.

If you're sure you're never going to play them though...

Selling off a cinsole is just bad advice....unless its an Xbox
But OP has almost 50 games he will be losing just for a shiney new console and a handful of games. Smh

Keep your wiiu, save up for a switch. There are a bunch of gems on the wiiu that won't get ported.

No. Like said, there isn't a whole lot of games available for the Switch yet that are must have type games. I bought one, but mostly for Zelda and few other games that haven't come out yet. My Switch library is a whopping 3 games right now. I can afford more, there's just nothing I want that is out right now.

If you're done with most of your games and can get what you need on Switch. As said before there's not that many games on Switch... except for a ton of indies. Switch is perfect if you love those and can settle with indies and/or Nintendo-only.

PS : you mention playing with your brothers. If you're into local coop that's a huge plus towards the Switch !

Definitely wait to trade in your Wii U, but if you have a Wii, you should really trade it in.

dang wish I had the 60% offer. I traded in our wii u and games to get my kids 2 2ds xl ... I wanted to treade it in before it was worth close to nothing. No regrets yet. While we wait for the switch the kids have the 2ds which they can play together with download play. Soo all is well

No no no no no. Don't do that. I mean, if you're just dying for a Switch and need the money from trade to make it feasible then that's understandable, but only do it if you can live without access to the Wii U's library ever again, or at least for a very long time. Some games will get ported to Switch, yeah, but most won't, and since we've still yet to see a GameCube Virtual Console you can safely assume Wii U games won't be getting that treatment for at least a couple generations (if VC even exists then).

I bought a Switch a couple of months ago but I still play my Wii U on a regular basis, because there are simply more games on it at this point and to me those games are too good to want to get rid of them. And speaking of Virtual Console, if you have a collection of VC games on your Wii U, then you'll be saying goodbye to them if you get rid of that console, since Nintendo are very unlikely to make those games available to re-download at no cost if they ever come to Switch. And that's a big if right now, considering they haven't said one way or another what they're planning in that area. I have probably $200 or so worth of VC games on my Wii U, and I'm not about to sign away my access to those things.

Anyway, just my thoughts on the matter. Switch is really good, but I'd do everything in your power to keep your Wii U if it/its games still hold value to you.

Trading in a console is extremely dumb and peasants usually do this to get the new shiney new item...

Such a dumb decision... Just to get a new console and a hand full of games. Switch doesnt even have VC, BC, nor full 3rd party support. Not worth a trade at all.

You should never sell a console, especially a Nintendo console and double especially because it's the Wii U. It's a good console, with great games and will be worth money in years to come. It has backwards compatibility, Virtual Console and a unique controller too. Don't do it, you'll regret it eventually.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE agreed on all that.
OP and anyone that sells/trades it will get ripped off. Youre taking a huge loss just to get something new and unproven.
