Hey guys, I really want the switch, 4 the legend of zelda and splatoon, and I'm looking for one, but is it worth spending $400 on this?

I would wait for more stock. You shouldn't pay more than 300 for the console.

Only you can answer this question. None of us know how much you like Nintendo games.

I would suggest waiting for a bundle, and by then, the system will work out to be cheaper for you and you will also have a broader selection of games to choose from. Other than Zelda, there's really nothing noteworthy on the system at this time until the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and for those content with the Wii U versions of these games, the Switch won't be worth buying until mid-year at the earliest.

It is very likely that Nintendo will release a hardware bundle to coincide with the release of ARMS and/or Splatoon 2, so I'd suggest buying one then.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

If you have to ask I would say no.

I mean that absolutely seriously. If you are on the edge enough to have to ask advice on a purchase, then you probably aren't committed to it yet.

personally?

I would buy mine again at the same price (£280)

Switch games list,

Legend of Zelda BotW, Human resource machine, NBA Playgrounds, Street Fighter 2, Super Bomberman R, Snipperclips, Overcooked, World of Goo.

Well, thanks everyone!! Answers, yes, Nintendo is my favorite gaming company, and, 2, I have been looking for the switch forever. I really want the switch. I am not allowed to play games that much, so I want to get it and get as far as I can on Zelda be4 splatoon 2 comes out. Splatoon is one of my favorite games!! I asked my uncle from Japan (who's a gamer) about the switch, and he says In Japan the reviews are quite bad so I was wondering if it was worth $400? I'll still get it anyway, I have somehow convinced my parents.
Thanks for commenting your ideas, everyone!

I wouldn't spend over retail. Don't feed the scalpers, that just makes you part of the problem.

The main thing is: can you be happy with Zelda BotW for a month or so? If so, snag one when you catch it available (took me several tries over weeks). Otherwise wait until the library grows... it's bound to be easier to buy at that point anyway once stock improves and the initial rush calms down.

Don't pay over retail. Stock is already starting to even out depending on where you live. If the restock hasn't hit your area in force yet, just give it a bit longer and they will be all over the place. And with more games than "just" Zelda. (Though, yea - one of the best games I've ever played.)

The console is worth it. Although the games are limited at this time . If you like zelda you should buy it now before splatoon comes out this way you got some decent time to play zelda and when splatoon comes out you can play that without you being torn between 2 games you want to play. I have zelda and you'll need lots of time to finish this gem.

Agree with other posters. Definitely worth it for retail price, don't pay over. Ultimately your decision.

When it comes down to the Switch I would say you only have to ask yourself one question:

Do you really like the idea of being able to to take console gaming wherever you go? If the answer to that is "yes" then perhaps a Switch is for you.

That's my favourite aspect about it. On the train, plane, at work, visiting family or away from home for the weekend, I can take the Switch with me for a bit of downtime to myself or some local multiplayer.

At this moment there is no reason to kill yourself looking for a Switch. The Wii U offers practically the same games right now. But when the new Mario game comes out, that will be the time to own a Switch.

If it is worth it is for you to decide but I would not buy one yet. Reason is there are not many games on it right now. On top of that the Operating System lacks a lot of common features right now. You will not get an Internet brower, youtube, Netflix and so on. Why buy a next gen console when it lacks features of the last gen consoles? You know what I mean.

If you are really interested in one I would wait until christmas and a Mario Oddisey bundle.

Usually people tell you yes to buy Nintendo products because you are on an Nintendo website.

Umm… Care to have some gravy?

There's something to be said for portability, and the games play better on the Switch. As far as I'm aware, you can't transfer your BotW save file from the Wii U to the Switch to continue there if you start playing prematurely on the Wii U but then get the Switch later.

Don't discount the portability aspect. I'm playing BotW a lot more on the go than I expected to (although I certainly play on the big screen whenever possible).

That's what a computer is for. Your argument is silly. The Switch is a different sort of gaming device altogether. It's not a "next gen console". It's its own thing. Even if Netflix, Youtube, a web browser, etc were already available now it wouldn't change the fact they have nothing to do with the Switch's purpose in life. It's about gaming, and Nintendo has stated as much. And the fact that they are flying off the shelves as fast as they can be stocked, most people get this and agree.

Browsers are better on computers anyway. The Switch is not meant to be handheld computer or computer replacement. Misunderstand this and your disappointment will only be your own fault.

To be fair, his argument is not really silly since people tend to buy products with a lot of features. But again they might compared Nintendo Switch to any tablets.

I'm not a hardcore gamer and the Switch was perfect for my needs. I have a 7 year old and we can bring it to friend's houses or wherever we want to play in table top mode. It's a great time killer and party game, especially Snipperclips and 1 2 Switch. I do wish the games were coming out faster, the Mario game looks great and I don't want to wait. It's kind of like the original Wii, more family type fun than perfect game system. I have a smart TV and three laptops to get on the internet.
