Your save files will be safe, they're always stored on the Switch's system memory, not the SD card. As for your captures, if you have a way to put the card into your PC then do that and see if you can access them on there.

@RadNitro89 You're save files should be fine, since they are on switch internal memory, not micro sd card. You can ask nintendo support via their chat messenger or phone line, if you want to ask them.

It's possible you might have to reformat your card, which will delete the games, and you'll have to redownload the games. But if you want to try an avoid that hassle, you can ask nintendo support. they're pretty good.

@WoomyNNYes thank you I'll keep that in mind. That message when I saw it really caused me to panic. I hope I can resolve this without too much stress.

The only issue will be when NIN figure how to store saves onto the sd card then we will have to all get bigger sd cards and watch how we care for the sd cards at that point. But I would welcome this as this will save internal space and allow data migration when one updates to a different Switch. The data migration is still a pain in the arse that they won't let you do this using your PC connection migrate all the data to another Switch.

I tried a different microSD card on my Switch and the message prompt did not come up. First I'll back up the data onto my computer then clean my 128 GB microSD card to see if that fixes the issue but if it does not work well you get the idea(plus I have to get a new microSD card).

@RadNitro89 Yeah, that sounds like a plan. Copy the card contents to the computer. Reformat the card. Then use your computer to put your Switch data back on the card. - sounds like that's what you're doing.

What I meant by clean the card I mean clean the pins of the card with rubbing alcohol on a q-tip.

@RadNitro89 Ohhhh. I see.

I've seen rare cases here were someone's switch stopped recognizing/allowing the micro sd card, like an error, (part of nintendo trying to prevent piracy). And the solution was formatting the card (which will delete everything from the card in the process.)

And early June, around the 12.0.3 update, there were cases where the Switch was rejecting people's new micro sd cards, if someone happened to be upgrading to a new card. So, that's what I was thinking about.

So, that's where I was coming from. Disregard if it doesn't sound relevant.

Glad with 12.0.3 update and my 1tb sd card has no issue now with Physical, eShop, DLC downloads.

@WoomyNNYes no really after loading all the games I missed loading I have 500gb left of space...now I really need the 2tb sd version soon. Because I got backlogs of backlogs unopened that needs to load up.

@WoomyNNYes You just might be onto something with the 12.0.3 update causing issues. Looking back at what I had to do prior to transferring my user data from my brother's Switch I was prompted to update my Switch(with had a placeholder user at time)before I could do any form of transfer.

@RadNitro89 I am glad so far I missed those issue and it could be because I changed to the 1tb card that is why I probably avoided those issues as I had to redownload all my updates/DLC to the card.

@15WoomyNNYes, @TicTacTecmoBowl, i'm having the same issue while trying to download Mortal Kombat 11. I have 249GB space avaialble on y SD card, but it never completes the download, always get stopped and says corrupted data, but i dont find any corrupted data when i check in the switch management screen. I have also formatted the sd card and when i redownload capcom beat em up bundle, much smaller file, it works, but when i try to download MK11, much bigger file, it always errors out. Is replacing the sd card the way to go?

@CactusMan THIS! We actually got an Aurora here in Phoenix Arizona last night. It was mostly red, but the edges were green, which any green in an Aurora this far South means the electromagnetic storm is INCREDIBLY POWERFUL.

@Tazzman Sounds like you're doing right stuff. That sounds like the Nintendo support troubleshooting checklist. I'm going to be thorough and paste the most relevant page I see. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a...

First step is make sure console is updated.(disregard if you've done this.) If you're someone who never shuts down their Switch, be sure to reboot it. Or do the hard reboot - hold power button for 12 seconds (this shouldn't harm anything.)

If the game is corrupted and you can delete the partially downloaded game, I would delete it, and redownload it. Beyond this, it sounds like you may need to contact nintendo support to see if they have any other tricks up their sleeve that may not be on the support site. (I've had good experiences with nintendo of america support in recent years, although, around christmas, I got someone who sounded like a temp that had to look EVERYTHING up before answering very basic questions.)

This may be unlikely, but I'll mention it. I've had a micro sd card go bad on me. It worked if you did anything with small files, but my phone would freeze if I tried to do anything with large video files. The freezing was actually the micro SD card failing. Same result if I plugged the card into my pc. Although, I never got a corrupted data msg. Disregard this part if your sure the card is ok.

@Tazzman The replacement ended up working for me. I have not had an issue since (thankfully).

I'm shocked nobody here has mentioned the likelihood that the SD card in question was a spoofed card, likely purchased off Amazon? What they do is sell you a "128GB SD" card for a stupidly cheap price, and what you're actually buying is a 16GB SD card. Google it, it's allllllll over the place, esp as relates to these corrupt save data issues on the Switch.

Aquinos7

WoomyNNYes

@Aquinos7 Yeah, we mention that possiblility in virtually every other thread regarding micro sd card issues. You're right though, we probably should have mentioned it, to cover all the bases. Although, when someone has a bogus card like that, I think the Switch has said "not enough space"? So, I think that's why we didn't mention it in this case. But I could be wrong. It doesn't come up often, and I've never seen that scenario first hand.

@WoomyNNYes Ah gotcha, yeah I'm a total novice when it comes to this Switch stuff, which brought me here, haha. Was trying to get my daughter's Switch to work w/ her newly purchased Pokemon Pearl game; got it home, put in in the Switch, tried to play and got that message of corrupted save so and so. No SD card even in it yet, which I found odd. We then put the SD card in, tried again, and same message. I deleted the game from the Switch, re-downloaded it, and now it works (off the Switch memory). I'm at a loss haha... I'm from the age of traditional cartridges and systems, where if a game wouldn't work, you blew on the contacts XD
