Topic: Rpg like games with A romantic subplot

I am in the mood for A JRPG like game with A romantic subplot do you have any sugestions?

I have played games like:
the witcher
xenoblade
breath of the wild
fire emblem three houses (the best if you ask me)

You, my friend, need to get you some Persona. Anything from Persona 3 onwards. Unfortunately, none of them are on Switch. But they sound exactly like what you are looking for.

Sorry, that probably wasn’t very helpful. Hopefully someone else can think of some Switch JRPGs in that realm. Maybe just go for Dragon Quest XI S, as the next best game available?

My 3 favourite video game love stories are all on the Switch:

-Final Fantasy X
-Final Fantasy IX
-Xenoblade Chronicles 2

@captainkwakkie Dragon Quest XI, Trials of Mana, Xenoblade 2 and the upcoming remake of the first, Atelier Ryza, Earthlock, Bravely Default 2, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, I am Setsuna, Lost Sphear, Tales of Vesperia and Rune Factory 4.

And although they're more a mix of RTS and JRPG (they're actually called "tactical RPGs"), I can definitely also recommend both Valkyria Chronicles games on the Switch. They're absolutely brilliant.

Not on Switch, but Tales of Graces F has a strong romantic subplot.

Tales of Vesperia is on Switch, I wouldn't really say it has a romantic subplot unless you ship Yuri and Flynn.

Yeah, Final Fantasy X & Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are the two that immediately spring to mind, and they're quite possibly the two best JRPGs on the system (DQXI is also great, but doesn't have any romantic plots that are particularly important/notable).

I have to say I totally get the sentiment too. I can't say I've ever been particularly interested in pure romance stories, but when romance is added as a central pillar in an adventure/action JRPG (the two previously mentioned & Tales of the Abyss, the latter of which isn't on Switch) or anime (InuYasha, Eureka 7, or Rurouni Kenshin, particularly the manga of the latter) it really resonates with me. There's just something special about the coming of age "boy meets girl" trope that never gets tired or played out (even though not every property I mentioned has that specific kind of romance).
