Topic: Rogue Legacy 2 for Nintendo Switch

Rogue Legacy 2 just shadow dropped with the Indie World direct yesterday.

The original was well received, but wasn't regarded as a masterpiece, or best in genre. Maybe for 2013, but many games have since outdone it in the last 9 years. The sequel, however, is better in literally every single way, and is currently sitting at a 90/100 on MC for Xbox, which the game has been console exclusive to for the last 6 months or so.

As someone who has never enjoyed rogue-lites, I'm astounded at how good this game is, how much fun I'm having, and how addicted I am after so little time playing. The key differentiator for this game, imo, is the permanent progression. Every time you die, you buy serious upgrades that never go away. You forge permanent weapons, you craft permanent runes. So you never feel like you're wasting your time after you die. And the gameplay itself is very fun. There's a Shovel Knight inspired attack that let's you bounce off certain objects to reach higher ledges and cross gaps, or even bounce off enemies. There's soooo many different moves across all the classes, too. I love it.

I've never been a fan of the genre. If even I'm in love with this game, how much more, then, those who are.

I'm keeping an eye on it, a lot of rogue games out there don't do it for me. They seem fun at first, but then I just get annoyed more than anything and then I'll stop playing the game entirely. Only games that managed to keep me interested is Death Road to Canada and Cult of the Lamb (mainly because you don't lose everything if you die, and that it doesn't focus entirely on the rogue stuff, lol).

Just waiting for the inevitable physical release from Limited Run.

I have it on Xbox Series X but I found myself getting pretty frustrated with it. I think it looks and plays great though.
