Good morning, im in dire need of some expert help.

My daughters right joycon just won't connect with her switch. It works as a standalone or in the hand held controller. It looks to connect to the console (little pulse thing when you slide it on to the console) and works to navigate menus but the moment you go to a game it wants to configure as a handheld and it won't attach.

I've disconnected, re paired but nothing works. I've basically tried everything I've read online so far but nothing has worked (most don't seem to pulse when slotted into the console)

Please help

@trix I've had similar issue with a specific game time to time, but the joycon will re-sync. If this happens with only one game, it could be a problem with the game. And for troubleshooting joy-cons, they always say make sure joy-con is updated. Joycons must be plugged in to udpate. But if you're joycons are often attatched to the console, they may already be updated.

You may want to try nintendo support UK (Nintendo has good customer service)
https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Contact/General-Customer-S...

Searching nintendo's support page is a good resource.(maybe you're aware.) You can search their support for issues. But if nothing can be found there to solve your issue, unfortunately, it could indicate a hardware failure, requiring repair or replace joy-con.

I had this happen where the controller would be fine on it’s own, but when it was connected to the switch it wouldn’t work. I still had my warranty so I just sent it in and it was fine.

It's just such a weird scenario in that it works in every way possible on the console except when you start a game.

Nintendo did fob me off as we've had the switch a while maybe I should just be a bit firmer with them
