I just read on ninsoup that there was a revised Pro controller has anyone else seen this in the wild yet? It was reported that BestBuy had them.

Story:
https://nintendosoup.com/nintendo-could-have-quietly-released...

Today we have potentially interesting news about a new Nintendo Switch Pro Controller revision that was quietly released this week.

Best Buy locations have reportedly stocked a new version of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. The revision contains the code “104889E” which could be found at the back of the box:

This is the first time a “104889E” Pro Controller has been spotted in the wild. The previous version, “104889D”, fixed some issues with the D-Pad.

Unfortunately we aren’t exactly sure what has changed with the new revision, so we will have to wait for teardown videos to surface first.

Looks like the same exact thing, but Smash Bros themed. I’ll pass, unless/until I hear what was changed. God knows we don’t need any battery life change, it lasts forever as is. 👍🏻

Realistically, Nintendo lost me this generation when it came to controllers. They have always been top notch in regards to quality, but the joycons being joycons and the pro controller has an awful D-pad. This time around 8bitdo has won me over for the switch. However, I did see that the new model fixed the D-pad which is great news. I bought my switch and pro controller day one so I got screwed lol

@Chunkboi79 sadly I buy multiple controllers on every console to play games like tennis aces multiplayer. I own 4 joy cons and 4 pro controllers. Screwed.

I really want the neon green joy con’s coming. I have the neon yellows and gray pair, but they cost so much so I may not spend all that just for a different color. We’ll see.

That's like me Spaltoon 2, Xblade and two black Pro controllers. Now I have to sell the two black version and get the cash to buy to new Pro controller. Assuming they are black version or which one I will find out if they are the SSB versions I'll sell the two black and two SSB and get the cash and buy four SSB version.

This make about much sense as no sense here. I had no issue with D-pad on Pro nor the Joy-Cons. No one got screwed.

The dpad which Nintendo invented is not as good on the pro controller as the 8bitdo controller. You might think that's subjective but I'm sure a poll with enough people would find it to be true. Also the pro controllers drift as well. So yes. Screwed.

I absolutely LOVE the Switch Pro-controller and simply reject any complaints others have made about it. It's extremely comfortable to hold for long sessions, analogue sticks and buttons are buttery smooth and responsive and my Splatoon, Xenoblade and Smash controllers, all released later on, lack the bad D-pad the day one model had, which was, as far as I am concerned, the only fault the controller has..

Not to mention the battery is astoundingly long lasting. It utterly blows the Dualshock 4 hour of the water!

The D pad isn't the best but it's still pretty good.

For one thing you need a adapter to use the 8bit controller. That doesn't sounds very good at all. Regardless of what polls can be made to get what you want. But in the end Pro and Joy-Con doesn't need extra hardware to connect to Switch. Especially when going Portable.

@sixrings my SF30Pro's dpad is unfortunately about as bad as the original procontroller's is

@SwitchForce for 8bitdo's wireless controllers you don't need extra hardware, at least not for the SF30/SN30 series.

why is mine 104889C ??

ultimately to me I dont mind if I have the older one I got it like 7 months ago

but on that site they dont mention a C version just D and revised E .. ? so is mine like uber bad?

@SwitchForce 8bitdo connects to the Switch without an adapter, joycon drift is a real thing, and original pro dpads had issues. Those are factual statements.

@sixrings Poor guy! treat yourself to just one 8bitdo pro pad+. It is awkward at first and feels quite foreign with the stick placements being more like a ps4 but it's my go to controller. Who knows maybe you could put a couple up on ebay and get a good deal then pick up more pro pad+'s

@SwitchForce Good for you, you want a reward? I am so happy you haven't had any issues with your switch dpad, and wish you good fortune and blessings. Oh how can I become as blessed as you, oh gracious one? Can you bestow upon me such good fortune and tiding?

However, for me it is unusable for my wife and I for Dragon Quest builders 2 which you use the dpad heavily considering every left or right input ends up being diagonal 50% of the time. As a result, our Nintendo Switch pro controllers aren't being used anymore. I have zero issues with the 8bitdo's controllers, but I can't even play a game as casual as dragon quest builders 2 on a switch pro controller. I would hate to see tetris 99 played with one. Also you don't need an adapter to use an 8bitdo controller, it connects just as seamlessly as any 1st party controller. How about you do some research before you speak out of turn?

@toiletduck In that regard I had some issues with my standard 8Bitdo Pro Pad in regards to the battery cause it would just drain all of the time. Have you tried updating it yet? It's something you wouldn't think would be a huge help/improvement. However, after I updated my 8bitdo pro pad controller to the most recent update I have had zero issues.

Chunkboi79

toiletduck

@Chunkboi79 I've updated it a few times. It's been a while now though. I'm pretty sure it won't fix the d-pad though; that really feels like it's a hardware thing. I've never experiences battery issues though.

Btw, it's fairly easy to improve the original Pro's dpad. All you need is tape, a screwdriver and a lot of patience. Mine got quite a bit better. I still have to try and apply the same method on my 8Bitdo.

@toiletduck I actually tried that method and didn't find any luck or difference. Maybe the tape I used was too thin.

Guess I hit the nail on the head. If sarcasm was your good points it didn't go well in life. Maybe in life reincarnation a better monk might lead you more enlightenment with mindfulness.

@SwitchForce "If sarcasm was your good points it didn't go well in life." "This make about much sense as no sense here."

If your grammar is any indication of your inherent ability to comprehend basic conversations. You would know that you, in fact, did not hit the nail on the head lol
