Topic: Recent article about zelda’s clones

Ok so I don’t really have much time for playing, on the switch I devoured BOTW (twice), played a bit of Splatoon & Smash, got bored of Odissey at like the 5th world.
Also, I loved Astral chain after forcing myself through the first two chapters.
Enjoyed Cadence of Hyrule, kinda.
Which game would you suggest me?
Never played Ookami, but hearing it’s too simple and that even after 20 hours some don’t get going kinda leaves me dubious.
Darksiders looks fun and immediate, but hopefully not too long.
the Iddle thingy looks like the best bet, but I also seem to understand that hyper light bla bla is awesome, even though the trailer isn’t inspiring me much.
Please give me suggestions, for the first time in a while an article made me want to save some time for gaming.

@KishinLink you played BOTW twice i have'nt played it at all, why did you play it twice, whats so good about it ?

Well first of all I started gaming with OoT, and in the years I never missed a main zelda chapter and even went through the previous games, they are special to me, and always found time for them even if after the gamecube years I am not an hardcore player.

That said it’s one of the greatest games ever, the dinamics are very fun and you can do lot’s of stuff to suit your personal tastes about how to play it etc.

It’s epic, fun, and you can do many different approaches to make different each play through

@KishinLink all the games you listed in your original post are great zelda clones( if youd call them that since they have their own identity). Another one you should look into is blossom tales. Did you play links awakening yet? Ittle dew 2, hyper light drifter and both dark siders are great zelda likes.. you cant miss

Whoever is dissing Okami is an ***hole. Inexcusable.

I mean, I guess you could say Okami is simple, but...if so, then so are most 3D Zelda games, being honest here. I dunno what a person would get out of most of the 3D Zeldas pre-BOTW if they think Okami is too simple.

Have you tried Dark Souls?

Also both Darksiders 1 and 2 are excellent.

Okami is very good, and very similar to pre-BotW style 3D Zelda.

I'd also recommend Ys VIII, and while it's more of an action JRPG than Zelda, it's kinda like it in the sense that you often get a new item or ability in a dungeon in order to advance. It's quite long though and took me over 60 hours to beat.

Maybe also Onimusha. Think of it as one big dungeon (it largely takes place on the grounds of a single castle, and in order to advance you'll need to obtain new abilities or upgrade them), though it's more action focused than Zelda. It still has puzzles though, and isn't too long (I beat it in about 5-6 hours).

I am kinda short on time and not very into playing at random, which one would uou suggest from the 4 above?

I did play the original Link’s awekening like a month before the announcement of the remake 😅

@KishinLink After I played the heck out of BOTW, personally, I never found anything else to scratch that BOTW itch. That was my eventual conclusion - just an opnion. You may come to a different conclusion. I just got into other different games, Splatoon 2, Crash Team Racing, Rocket League. I would have played Skyrim, but the opening has a decapitation, and I don't find that relaxing. So I passed on that.

@Ninfan Zelda Breath of the Wild is amazing. It's one of the best games I've ever played. There is reason it got so many amazing reviews. I highly recommend it. What's good about it? Great exploration, great combat, the shrines are fun, the weapons are fun. The progression is fun. The world & game design is epic, I played it 2.5 times. You will always find people online who don't love the game, but most everyone loved the game. It highly likely, you'll love it too.

Honestly the only unfortunate thing is that my favorite Zelda clone, Beyond Good and Evil, isn't on Switch. I might be convinced to buy it a 3rd time if that happened.

@KishinLink a quick couple games for zelda likes would be ittle dew 2 or blossom tales. Don't sleep on blossom tales

Nice @NintendoByNature ! haha Ittle Dew 2 still isn't available for purchase on the eshop. I don't know if you recall that the game got pulled in August/September? Their eshop page is still there, but it' cannot be purchased. At least, that's the status in the US. It's nuts. I don't think their issue with their publisher is resolved yet. I guess because, legal stuff is slow, or the publisher is dragging their feet. I've been watching for it to go back on sale. @KishinLink

Oh yes I'd second that as well. It's not that different to Zelda really. Has a similar kind of adventure feel to it.

Blossom tales and oceanhorn both are on sale atm
