Quake 2 is out! I would absolutely love some assistance with controller button remapping as I feel I ran out of options too quickly... Also, what are you control settings for aiming/sensitivity, etc?
Will be throwing down a preorder for a physical copy through LRG today.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,251 games (as of April 24th, 2024)

I too intend to place an order for a physical copy via LRG. It's going to be quite the order with Jurassic Park and Castlevania Advance Collection as well (and possibly even a fourth game if something else comes along between now and early September).

Actually got this as a free update just for having Quake II on GOG, so I actually have a DRM-free copy of the new Quake II along with the original. If anyone has Quake II on PC for Steam or GOG, check your library or update it, you'll have the new version too.
I am very happy this came to Switch, like I did with Doom, Doom II and Quake, I'm going to have to get a copy for it as well. It's just nice to have the option to play these id classics there too.
Played a bit through Quake II 64 last night too, albeit on PC.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
After some mucking about with settings, I've landed on Aim X to 20 (all the way) and Aim Y to 5, and Accel to 13, it feels great to move around this way. I turned motion controls off, too. I would love to know what is working for others!

Beat Quake II 64 this morning, and I'm sitting here wondering how did I play this with an N64 controller. It was a lot harder than I remembered, even using a keyboard or mouse (playing on PC), but I beat it.
Also, still have my old cartridge, so feel like sharing a pic of it. Remember picking this up well after N64 ended and came across a used copy at a local game store.
Crossplay works good, I was playing on PC last night, and my friend was playing via his Switch. Very easy to do, just share your room code with whoever you're going to play with.
Loving this port, and plan to double dip to have it on Switch.

How well do the early id games hold up? Part of me wants to pick them up for historical purposes, but if they don't hold up... I'd rather play other shooters.

Also, thank you @jump
Late edit: aww, they changed the title ☹️
I was on holiday during the week and had very patchy internet access, so missed the original thread title, I think - dying to know what it was now.
@gcunit it had symbols to look like the Quake logo in it. I thought it was cool and clever, fudge knows why the mods might have taken issue with it though.

It's probably for the benefit of anyone trying to search for discussion on the game.
@ZeldaFan83 Yeah, that was a dud. The rest of their output has been pretty amazing...DOOM 64, Turok 1 & 2, Quake, Shadowman Remastered, Powerslave Exhumed, System Shock, Forsaken Remastered...
Hell, even very early titles like Strife and Rise of the Triad got solid releases. Lead developer Samuel "Kaiser" Villarreal is currently working on three projects, and I wonder what those are.
Oh yes. I’m a big fan of theres. But they have a great portfolio. Really want to play System Shock 1 remake, but prefer if it came to the next gen switch.
@Stamina_Wheel It's a damn crime that they didn't port Forsaken Remastered to the Switch. Like what the fudge? If I could just get that and a remaster of the Descent trilogy for Switch, I would be one happy boomer shooter camper.
Overall I love the remaster. I had no doubt it would be great considering how good the Quake 1 remaster is. I've seen some complaints that it changes the core game too much from vanilla Quake 2, but this personally doesn't bother me.
There are some major bugs that need to be addressed though. The two big ones I have noticed:
The music does not loop. If you spend enough time on a stage, the music will simply stop and not start again until you enter a new stage. I am actually shocked that not a single review even mentions this!
There's an option to the change the on screen weapon position(not sure exactly what this is called..forgive me) to center or left, but if you do so the player arm/hand and weapon disappears completely. Only the default right side position works correctly.
No idea if these bugs are exclusive to the Switch version or if they appear on all versions, but they definitely need to be fixed ASAP.
