Well, I've never played a Layton game before, but the announcement of a new game, and my love for the Ace Attorney series has definitely piqued my interest. So, does anybody here have any suggestions as to where I should start? I've heard that Curious Village is a good point to start for newcomers, but which platform is it recommended that I play it on? I have access to both a DS and an iOS phone, as well as emulators if it comes to it.

Currently playing:
Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition (Switch)
Balatro (PC)
@StarPoint It's best to play them in order, each game improves upon the last so it would be hard going back to earlier games when QOL features you are use to are then removed.
@jump Ok thanks. I've heard that the mobile port actually has some better things going for it since it's in HD and adds some cutscenes, but to me, that's not a huge deal. I'll probably wait to make a move until after Level 5's presentation on Thursday, just in case they somehow decide to port the first few games to modern platforms. Doesn't seem all too likely given their track record, but I can hold out a few more days to wait and find out.
But if they end up not doing that, I might get the mobile port. I would like to try it out on the DS but my DS Lite gets very uncomfortable to hold after I use it for like 20 minutes.
Heads up: game as originally going to be released in 2025 but has now been delayed to 2026. Sorry, Layton fans, someone had to share the news 😭.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG
Switch Username: Blanc
I was snooping around the Japanese eShop earlier, and I can confirm that there will also be a Switch 2 release (a "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition") for the game as well. What this will mean for the physical release(s) remains to be seen.
Not sure what will be different either, but I assume the usual performance/resolution boost and mouse controls.
Level 5 sure was desperate to get new games announced, this one was announced before TOTK released. Which is not the longest delay in the world, but this is a point and click/puzzle game so it just seems silly to me.
