@MarcelRguez Next week, the 26th to be precise, is Nintendo's earnings call. This is where they showed Bayonetta 3 as TBD, Metroid Prime 4 as TBD, and Pokemon as 2018 or Later.
People are going to be looking to that meeting to see what they attach to Pokemon.

@MarcelRguez Takashi does still translate yeah, and the meeting is on the 26th, the document is usually a day or two later I believe. Or maybe not who knows. They release it all for international audiences too.
But yeah, the reason people are talking about it like its next week is because...well if it STILL says 2018 next week, it's almost locked, and if it ONLY says 2018, then bam, there we go.

To don a tinfoil hat for a moment, PixelPar's first response after the bet is interesting.
Note the levels. 16, the day he lost the bet, and 25, the day before the earner's meeting.
Apologizes if this has been brought up earlier, I'm just now gonna follow the thread. But something I would really appreciate is if they trimmed down on battle messages. For example, instead of just displaying "A critical hit!" and "It's super effective!", right when the HP bar starts dropping there can be pop-out text saying "critical hit" and "super effective", so you don't need to press through more text. For a Nintendo comparison, think Xenoblade 2 when you inflict Break, Topple, Launch, or Smash. Now replace that with "critical hit" or "super effective". They could probably also streamline more stuff like status inflictions, though perhaps confusion will remain as is.
I think the biggest thing I'd like from a new Pokemon game (aside from opening up the world a ton) are some QoL features that quicken the paces of battles by trimming all the unnecessary downtime.
100% agree - that'd be top of my wishlist! Those archaic text boxes in battles are my #1 complaint about modern Pokemon games...they cause battles to be unnecessarily slow - and removing them (by having status indicators just flash up on the screen instead) would add some much needed fluidity. It'd only be a small change - but I'm convinced that it'd make a huge difference!
The battle system doesn't need a massive overhaul - and it shouldn't abandon its 'turn based' roots - but it certainly needs modernising...and those outdated text boxes should be the first (perhaps only) thing to go!
@DarthNocturnal I would say that battles slowed down after 5. 6 and 7 are a bit slower than 5, even if you turn off all battle animations. It's not just the 60 FPS in 5 and the tragic framerate in 6 and 7, the overall speed of 5 with sending out Pokemon and damage calculation is still the fastest Pokemon battles have ever been.

@DarthNocturnal It was bad. I nearly dropped out of Pokemon after Diamond and Pearl, til I got to play a Platinum version and found how improved it was.
Speaking of the DS games, I’m going to miss the dual screen display. It just felt so good having the menu and moves on the bottom screen and the overworld and battles on the top. Maybe it’s because I’ve been doing it that way for a decade, but I’m worried about the screen feeling cluttered. Not as much the overworld, but the battle system. Granted, they have a bigger screen to work with, and the games that came before Diamond and Pearl are still awesome, so I don’t know if it’ll be a bad thing or just different.
Just a geek that likes video games, and spends to much time playing Smash Bros. and Fortnite.

@TheTetrisGuy I get what you mean. Looking back at the last console game, Pokemon Battle Revolution even, it still seems so cluttered. Granted, the resolution should be far higher than the 480p/i that Wii games were designed for, so hopefully the UI will make use of that.
As much as I love the Gen 4 games (they're collectively my favorite generation), I do agree that the battles did run a bit slow at times. I seem to recall Gen 3's battle speed being even worse tbh. LeafGreen especially seemed a bit slow in that department.
But yeah, I agree; battles need to be streamlined further.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@Tyranexx Gen 3 as a whole was around the same as Gen 1 and 2, and there weren't any speed differences between any of the Gen 3 games. There was that stupid pause after the "it's super/not very effective" and "a critical hit" messages that was especially annoying, which slowed down the pace a bit. Even Gen 4, as slow as Diamond/Pearl were with the HP bar and overall messages, didn't have as much of a delay after those messages (though it got outweighed by the other slow stuff).

Something like the Gamecube or Wii HUD system would be nice to see again. If the battles themselves are also like those games, then removing things like super effective or status messages can easily be done as they'd be shown to a greater degree than before.
