AFTER NEARLY AN ENTIRE YEAR OF WAITING, ITS FINALLY MINE 😭😭😭 oh and I also treated myself to one of those PDP Rock Candy controllers for good measure 😁

Alrighty, I got to shadow queen and I couldn't even get her below 90HP . Considering the length of the cut scenes and not wanting to redo it over and over, what's the easiest way to down the big bad? Best partner? Tips and tricks? I originally tried vivian but she didn't help much offensively. Those hands regrow way too quickly.
@NintendoByNature you could prioritize your evasion (lucky badges), and use Koops to shield you, or Vivian to hide you when needed. Equip the quick change badge to be able to use your partners effectively instead of trying to rely on one alone for the whole fight.
Gombella’s rally wink will let Mario do two things in one turn; it can be useful to charge up or do some extra damage. Combine it with double or triple dip to use a barrage of items if you want.
You’ll probably also want to use your special attack points on the one move that powers you up, and have one of Merlee’s spells active for extra luck.
Using what you know about the battle, check your repertoire of offensive badges and try to find a good fit; for example, something that could help you deal with multiple enemies in one attack.
@NintendoByNature Admiral Bobbery is your best offensive option. His best special attack hits all enemies for a lot of damage, so is good for clearing the field of everything summoned by the final boss. It eats up a lot of FP though, so you'll need a decent number of items to top it up.
Vivian is still very handy to switch in whenever there's a charged-up attack coming your way. Ideally, you've got the badge that lets you swap characters and act in the same turn.
@NintendoByNature I believe you can skip the cutscenes so no worry about that! Sleep stomp is not a bad option, and I found Flurrie to be pretty good on the boss. Also you can try to re-format your badges and get rid of any that won’t help you in battle (like the badges that help in the overworld or help you get more rewards for winning a battle)
@Eel@PikminMarioKirby@Matt_Barber thank you! I'll check to see if I have some of those badges when I get home from work. All good advice though, I appreciate it.
Played through both the Prologue and Chapter 1 so far today and god I am having the absolute time of my life right now. I just went into extensive detail in the 'What Are You Currently Playing?' thread but to put it bluntly: I've put about 4 hours into it and its already on course to being one of my favourite games ever made, I'm in love.
Oh and whilst I'm here, I might as well ask: how do you perform Stylish attacks? I know they exist as the Battle Master Toad told me about them but I have absolutely no clue how to do them outside of a vague 'time the button press' hint the game gave me XD
@Fizza at (normally undisclosed) points before, during, or after an attack, there are times where you can press A in order to add flair to the attack (to get the audience excited).
One easy example you can try out is during Mario’s jump, you can have Mario do a trick by pressing A whenever he reaches the apex of his jump after stomping the enemy.
With his hammer, you can make him do a backflip right after smacking the enemy, and then again to strike a pose after he finishes his backflip.
Every attack has moments where you can add flair, and there’s a badge you can get to show these opportunities.
@Fizza Glad you’re enjoying it! It is one of my favorite games of all time (probably tied as #1 for me), so glad you’re having a very nice experience as well.
As for stylish moves, it depends on the move. For Hammer, after you finish doing the move, you have to soon after press A, and when you land press A again, For Jump, after landing on an enemy then get at the peak height, and then do the stylish move, and it can be done on both jumps. Certain badges and different character moves have different timings, so it’s kind of experimental to find them all out, either that or Battle Master Toad. (Also above comment mentions a badge that can help as well)
@Eel@PikminMarioKirby Ohhhhhhhh I see, I was under the assumption that I just had to do the regular timing better than I was before, that makes a ton more sense XD

Boy that final battle was a royal pain in the rear. Took me 2-2.5 hours in total to finally finish it off. Pretty much loved the rest of the game aside from a couple sections. Finding general white was one, and repeating the wrestling matches just felt like a rinse and repeat chapter. Other than that, really great game. I still like Origami king the most in the series, followed by the original. Haven't played super paper mario yet though. Sticker star is ok, and I enjoyed paper jam enough. Glad to move onto Live a Live now. Been wanting to play this for a good while.
I find Ms Mouse's sniff ability confusing. Sometimes she says something is right next to us, and I jump around in the air, butt stomp the floor, and try every possible ability but no dice!
@Eel funny I found the warp pipe while doing some grinding/purchasing before the final boss🤦♂️. I had heard about it but never found it until the very end of the game. Would've been nice.
@Mana_KnightI could be wrong but I think she faces the direction you need to go. Try jumping in every nearby place, as well as stomping/hammering. Also hitting trees/bushes is something to do to find stuff as well.
