Heads up that I just received an email from Nintendo directly that informed me NSO has increased from $24.99 to $29.99 for an annual subscription. I don’t have the Expansion Pass nor do I have my Switch present to confirm all the price increases. Copy / Paste below:

Dear [User],

We would like to inform you that the price of your subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online individual membership will change on 08/01/2025 00:00 (24H PDT). The new price will apply to your subscription starting with your next renewal if the deadline to turn off automatic renewal falls on or after 08/01/2025 00:00 (24H PDT). If that deadline falls before 08/01/2025 00:00 (24H PDT), the new price will apply to your subscription starting with the following renewal.

Old price: $24.99
New price: $29.99

You can find the deadline and manage any subscription on the Nintendo Account website or Nintendo eShop. Automatic renewal for your subscriptions can be turned off at any time up to 48 hours before the end of the then-current period.

With that email, I turned off my Automatic Renewal. Nintendo is going to lose a lot of business with me over this. I would have gladly forked over several more years of online, bought plenty of more Switch 1 games, and would have eventually have picked up a Switch 2. But I've had it with this corporate greed. As a Canadian, I'm so done.

Being based in the UK I don't quite understand why Canadian prices are going up. What is it about, has the Canadian dollar lost some value or have they implemented some sort of tariffs like the USA on imports from Asia? Is there some sort of cross border movement of goods where people buy in Canada and take them into the USA and Nintendo are protecting dealers in the USA by also increasing Canadian prices? I've not seen this explained anywhere why this is a thing.
