My switch lite has collected dust for some time. When I tried charging it just doesn’t work. After trying everything else I investigated the ordinal charger and found that it doesn’t even charge my phone. Tried with a different charger that I know works and that didn’t work either. After charging my phone again with the 2nd charger it had now stopped working. After unplugging the charger it started working again. As soon as I had put it in to the switch, like clockwork it stopped working again. Any ideas?
Having a bit of hard time following the story. I'll say what I can.
If the switch isn't used for weeks or months, and the battery runs down completely, the switch may not let you turn it back on until it has a lot of charge, or is fully charged, or in some cases, it wont' turn on until it's sat on a charger for 24-48 hours. This is a quirk of the switch console.
If the original switch ac adapter still doesn't work, that may be another factor.
Beyond that, your scenario may be rare enough that finding someone that knows what's happening may be difficult. If I had to guess, it sounds like maybe your switch is glitching, and maybe that's screwing up chargers? I don't know how possible that is.
There has been a steady trickle of people posting on reddit that they didn't use their switch for months, 6 months, or a year, and their battery is just dead & so degraded that it's unusable and needs to be replaced. If a device with lithium ion batteries isn't used for 3, 6, 12 months, that gradually kills the battery. Li ion batteries need to keep being used on roughly a monthly basis to keep them from degrading and becoming unusable.
If anyone knows this better, and wants to correct me, go ahead.
Cheers for the respons. Yeah I’ll let it sit on another charger for a bit and see if that helps. Will probably not use the original one since it seems to be completely dead
Think I solved it. After charging the switch from my Mac it turns on. My theory is that the nitendo charger is bricked. My phone charger probably outputs to much power for the switch and therefore auto shuts off. As a last ditch effort I plugged it in to my Mac as it outputs much much less. And now the screen turns on and it indicates that it is charging
