Topic: Nintendo switch won't display with pc adapter

I recently purchased a Nintendo switch and I'm using an older tv so I got a hdmi to pc cable however when the package came it said HDTV TO VGA. However the hdtv end fits into the switch and the vga works with the pc connector so I assumed it was the same thing. There is no display on the tv however the green light on the bottom of the dock is on and when I insert the switch the display on the switch turns off. Any help is appreciated.

To clarify the switch is plugged in through the pc connector on the front of the tv. I've changed to every channel and it's not on any. It says no signal. I don't know if the connector is output or input but I assumed it was input. The console also is charging when in the dock.

VGA stands for Video Graphics Adapter and it is the standard formerly used by PCs (Now replaced by DisplayPort for the most part, or DVI is another option.) Anyways, your adapter might be bad? I've had some rotten luck when it comes to those things.

@link3710 The cable didn't work with my PS3 to my monitor or the switch to my monitor so I believe the cable is the problem I'll try another cable and write back on a bit replies are still welcome.
