Topic: Nintendo Switch (Themes)

Hi,

I searched, but didn’t see a topic on this yet.

I can’t be a lone wolf with this one, who else wants themes for Switch? The other day I was browsing themes for my 3DS and added a few more. I know it’s a very minor feature, but I still love having the options. I haven’t seen anything credible that they are or are not coming. Thoughts?

I literally just thought the same thing. Basic Black and White 2 years in is a joke

@CTmatic You’re not alone. Just watch the comment sections every time there’s a system update.
I personally don’t spend enough time on the home menu to be bothered, and I’m from the Xbox ecosystem where everything got slowly muddled together after themes started.

Haha yeah. I don’t know why it took me so long to be like waaaait a sec, where the heck are our themes? If 3DS has them, why not Switch?@Swindla

Yeah true. I don’t even look for comments if there’s a system update. I’ll read the official system update notes once Nintendo releases them, but then again, Nintendo sometimes leaves stuff out. Lol @HobbitGamer

I'd love to have that sunny-yellow-orange color theme from the 3ds. And a dark mode eshop. I'm thinking the themes may be locked away in a secret vault in a golden Ark with Virtual Console, Gamecube ports, Mario 3D World inside.

It does sadden me a little bit that after two years there are still no themes, I mean how hard could it possibly be.
Also, only basic white or black...LMAO.
I mean they could at least give us the option to stick a screenshot in the background.

@CTmatic Had my Switch since launch and still don't understand why they haven't at least added other basic color schemes. They have a theme tab in settings and I thought right away that that meant more were coming.

Here we are two years later and they haven't done a single thing with it.

But if I am honest, much more than themes, I would prefer the ability to make folders and adjust the number/size of game icons on the screen at once, like we had on both the 3DS and Wii u. And I think even the DSi had to an extent.

They could add simple color scheme themes without slowing down the home menu at all. Instead of just black or white, they could, at the very least, add red, blue, yellow, green, etc...

On another note, I'm bummed we don't have more player icons too. They've been ridiculously conservative with adding more icons and I can't fathom why. But unlike folders and themes, they have added a small handful... Where are the Fire Emblem ones? Where are the Luigi's Mansion, SSB, Astral Chain, etc? Every Switch exclusive should have brought player icons! They are simple static images that the hacking community has already figured out how to change...

@Heavyarms55 I guess they're waiting like a year from now to add folders and special themes to the Switch. The 3DS didn't even have themes until 2014, after all. (I think they came out with 3DS folders in 2013?) But yeah I agree with you, they missed an opportunity to even have simple color themes right on the Switch's release date. I could be having a red theme on my Switch's home menu by now!

Honestly, I just want Switch themes because it would probably be the only thing worth buying in the MyNintendo Rewards with silver. Got so much silver I don't use on anything

Themes are nice, but I can do without them. Folders are what I need.

But now that I'm catching up on old 3DS games, what I REALLY want is not having to take the SD card out every time I want to transfer screenshots.

Themes should be standard these days, even the PS4 had a choice of themes available on launch.

Exactly. Even Nintendo just easing into different colors and patterns a little before games and characters would be something. The 3DS can do it, it's not difficult.

Systems in general...the 3DS and Wii U basically had personality with their home menu and eshop. The Switch is just...there.

I know it's not a big deal, but...I kinda miss the themes especially with the shop. Remember how the music changed based on events or seasons on Wii U's eshop?
