I plan on just using the pro controller or joycons. Don't have any real affinity to the GameCube controller and the fact that it's wired also makes it a deal breaker. I do have a pair of GameCube controllers/adapter preordered but will most likely just end up selling them once they release.
I plan on using my Pro Controller. Besides the fact that it's comfortable, I paid $60 for the thing, it's wireless, and a charge lasts forever.
Having played Smash when it released on N64, all the way through each iteration, I don't see the appeal or razzamattaz of using a GameCube controller. I'm not playing for anything other than living room (or neighbor's living room, etc) enjoyment.

I already have an adapter and GC controller. But I bought them when I thought we were getting Gamecube games on Switch... (I still hope we are) But for Smash, I will probably just use whatever. I am a filthy casual in SSB.

Well I already bought the adapter and two controllers back when Super Smash Bros for the Wii U came out, so I might as well get more use out of them here. I'm not a GCN/Melee purist, I just really like the GCN controller. Although I play my Switch almost exclusively portable, the times I have tried to play Mario Kart 8 DX on the GCN controller have felt so much more natural than the Switch's Pro Controller.
