Yeah, I don't see why anyone should feel bad for using them. They included them for a reason, and you can only carry a limited amount anyway.

That said, I do try to conserve them since I hear the final mission has no way to obtain new healing items of any kind.

I'm not totally sure how the ranking works in these games but i think if you use too much potions or whatever it effects your rank. Oh and yeah you don't wanna get to the last few areas with no potions left or you're gonna be sorry when you get to the final boss.

@Zeldafan79 , yeah, I completed that little boss rush thing last night (the one that ends with that flying bull demon) which used up all my potions (though I still had my two revival talismans).

Luckily the mission didn't end after that, so I was able to run all the way back to town & completely restock.

@Zeldafan79 I believe it is the Ninpo tokens that it counts towards your end tally.

Finished up the first game today! Definitely a step up from Devil May Cry & Onimusha in terms of difficulty, and I'm glad I was able to get through it, even if just on normal.

Started up Sigma 2 today.

I'm partway into the second mission and so far it's been running smooth (no noticeable frame dips), though while the first mission was completely crisp, the resolution in the second mission has been noticeably dipping in spots.

From what I gathered so far, NG feels like being smacked with a wooden sword and learning how to dodge it. Awesome and punishing, but not unlike DS. It's flavor is as if the computer itself is saying, "get good, I will show you." Then after it shows you the ropes, it cuts the ropes and makes a whip from them.

It's funny how bosses that first seem impossible can be cake if you know a good combo string or get really good at the timing for dodging attacks. I was just doing the sewer chapter and the boss was beating the snot outta me. I watched a video guide where a guy uses the lunar staff and just kept repeating the forward XXXX combo and the boss went down in mere seconds. That combo does insane damage!

Speaking of which does anyone remember if the original xbox version had the lunar staff weapon or was that a sigma/black exclusive?

@Zeldafan79 Out of curiosity, what controller are you using? This game needs some good controller skills

@VanishStampede

I have mostly just been using the standard switch controller but I'm considering using my pro controller instead. I kinda have big hands and those tiny buttons on the joycons ain't working out so well. I'm pretty good at the izuna drop so i mostly just spam that and the flying swallow move on most enemies that it works with. bigger baddies i use the Dabi sword.

@Zeldafan79 Be careful cause I bought an aftermarket game controller (it's like the pro but no branding) that was really good with all my other games and this game caused one of my buttons to do that one thing where the silicon inside the button no longer pushes up on the button cap. I have been playing this game hobbled, which is why I mapped ninpo to the right stick in the first game.
Edit: I mean since the standard joycons might not be great to use on this one because of reasons

So how hard is it to earn master ninja ranking while still using ninpo? I've been trying really hard not to use it because i don't want it effecting my rank. I usually just save it for bosses. I just beat chapter 15 in the first game and used all my ninpo slots but still got master ninja so that came as a surprise. Didn't think it was possible.

@Zeldafan79 It's decent, if anything it's somewhat tougher playing as Rachel and getting a nice score(for me). I just started NG3RE and I was not prepared for the Gameplay change. Call me a scrub, but I must have lost like 17 Hayabusa Ryus to the first scene alone. I got better but yeah. Tighten your sphincter cause you'll be pulling through by the seat of your pants as far as my gameplay goes. AND LOOK FOR SCARABS.

@VanishStampede
Yeah I still liked razors edge but alot of things were very off about that one. As for Rachel I kinda hate playing as her. She's too slow and I just can't seem to get good ranks with her. Ayane is pretty fun though!

@Zeldafan79 I wonder if it's tooled that way. Next time I got free time I'm going to take a shot with Rach and see if I can get above Common Hunter

Finished up Sigma 2 this afternoon (on Normal). Definitely easier than the first game (on the comparable difficulty mode), but I think I preferred 2 simply because of the killer art direction (despite some visual blemishes on Switch) and more varied locales (even if levels are much more linear), and hey, there's a mission where you get to play as Ayane.

Think I'm going to hold off on playing 3 though. I've had quite a bit of NG action by this point, plus it's the one with the most issues on Switch as far as I've heard.

@RR529 Now that I've played through 3, I would say the only real problems that occur is because of a weapon's level. I have also come across targeting "issues" with a monster I would think ryu is targeting(with ultimate/bow) and he would slap the nearest enemy instead. The weapon's level unlocks the button combos for a weapon. I may only have those issues because I was on hard mode though. The ST-O-BO tech feels kind of hit and miss, due to the targeting issues again. This might also only be for hard mode, but the rocketmen feel like they're there to keep you on your toes. I...swear I did not "cheese" the bosses, that's just how they're supposed to be beat. Maybe I should've played it in normal...

If anyone is still playing this i just wanted to let you all know there's a new update for the master collection version of NG sigma 1. Supposedly it fixes a few minor bugs and improves performance. It's version 1.04.

I've been playing the collection recently so I'll see if i notice a difference. Hopefully those awful load times are fixed where the game stutters while loading areas of tairon.
