I would be very happy with a Mario direct in the next 2 months! If I got a selection of Mario games and the Metroid Prime trilogy before Christmas I would be extremely happy

@MarioBrickLayer For the past week all I have been thinking about is when can I get my metroid fix on the switch? I cant remember the last time I have been so desperate for a game to be announced/released. The trilogy being three games is going to take people a decent amount of time to get through and then want for metroid prime 4 so I hope it's released early enough for us to get our teeth into.

I know what you mean!! In a world without lockdown, I think releasing the trilogy in September and then MP4 in June 2021 is a good time line, but who knows now.

With the rumours about Mario Odyssey 2 and Breath of the Wild 2...I wonder if Nintendo would consider releasing 3 huge games in the same year?

@MarioBrickLayer you know, I hadn't even thought of that. the only thing that would make me think that it could still happen is that Metroid has always been a predominantly western-loved series but if what we've seen with the switch so far who knows. So many people in Europe and America have gotten into the JRPG's so I don't see why it couldn't happen the other way around as well.

I think it's time to dig out my old Gamecube and start seshing some MP1. I know its an unpopoular opinion but maybe I'll even get into MP2 this time as well.

I suppose it depends what else they have in development, lets say they are working on 1 new IP, Mario Kart 9, Pikmin 4 and some more Zelda remasters (Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages?) then they would have enough major releases for 2022 as well?

I'll have to use my Wii with a HDMI adapter, my TV doesn't have a scart socket for my gamecube!!

@MarioBrickLayer Please dont be telling me you're predicting a 2023 release! just the thought of that hurts my soul haha. Is there much difference visually in the GC and Wii version of MP1 + 2? If so I'm gunna have to start searching for a Wii

No! I meant they could do the three major releases next year, if they have enough other stuff in development for 2022 onwards!!

The Wii has 4 gamecube controller ports and can play gamecube games, I bought a Wii/HDMI adapter for around £5 a few years back and it works ok. Here is a review of a similar device.

@MarioBrickLayer thanks I was thinking of picking up the trilogy from ebay or something but after seeing the ridiculous price they are going for I think ill stick with 1 + 2 and just wait for it on the switch.

They'll definitely release Prime in the same year as another big game. But I don't think they'll release Mario and Zelda within 6 months of each other. Maybe Zelda in March and Mario in November though.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Octane

I don't think Prime 4 is happening next year. Still holding out for Zelda this year. They got to have something planned for the holidays, right?

I bet we'll get a Zelda trailer in July, or whenever their non-E3 thing is. But I think it'll be announced for like Spring 2021.

I think you're right, if they can't get one out for Christmas this year (maybe focus on other Mario instead?) then 1st game January - March, 2nd in June and 3rd in October/November. If they did that they could hold all other 1st party releases until 2022.

@MarioBrickLayer

I don't think any of them are coming this year. My prediction is:

Breath of the Wild 2 - March 2021.
Mario Odyssey 2- November 2021
Metroid Prime 4 - Feb 2022

I think holiday 2020 will be Bayonetta 3, Mario 3D collection, and a couple of other new games. Possibly Paper Mario and...........................Pikmin 4

I'm predicting similar! Metroid Prime 4 inbetween Zelda and Mario in 2021, holidays 2020 as you said apart from Pikmin 4, I think that will be 2022 with Mario Kart 9 and a few more smaller games.

I think it'll be:
BotW 2 - March 2022
Bayonetta 3 - Fall 2021
Prime 4 - Spring 2023 (launch title for the next system)

With the big 2021 game being Paper Mario and Pikmin 4 comes in 2022. Everything else is ports, remasters, remakes, DLC and smaller scale games.

With Nintendo recently bringing Splatoon 2 and ARMS back to life after year(s) of nothing happening for those games, I've leaned back to Odyssey getting an expansion instead of a sequel.

No way. They're not going to show it three years in advance. They've been working on it since 2017. Either this year or early 2021.

@Octane I think delays due to coronavirus are being underestimated. I think your estimate is what would've happened if coronavirus didn't exist.

@Grumblevolcano I think it'll be Holiday 2021. Next year will be the year of Zelda with the 35th anniversary. A few ports/remasters spread throughout the year with the big finale being BotW 2.

Love anything Zelda. Most other Ninty franchises too! Purposely vague...
