@Anti-Matter There's always a small chance they'll use that to market a game with 2 in it's title, I'll give you that. Wouldn't be the first time a game's pulled something like that.

@link3710 What exactly are we talking about here?

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

link3710

@DannyBoi Yeah this topic is just... a perpetual windmill of people guessing when the next Nintendo Direct will be and what it'll contain. It's basically just people spinning their wheels while waiting.

@link3710 Actually, according to Sabi(trusted and verified leaker) the Direct could come as early as next week(which would line up with END creative director saying watch out for February 13th). I don't know when it will come though.

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

Maaryotyme

The direct is this month or next month according to many leakers I won’t name for obvious reasons. Nintendo are just finishing up on the editing for the direct.
Just be patient.

@La-weejee Pfffft this month or next month doesn't take a leaker to guess. There's no games with a release date after Animal Crossing, they can't go much further than early April without news.

So I don't do public speculation with much seriousness, usually much of my talk is all in good fun.

However, I am hearing a LOT about the "Holiday title with wheels," speculation isn't what we inherently think it is. I am getting the strong inkling it's Cruis'n.

@Paraka Cruis'n would be awesome. I'd been assuming Diddy Kong Racing tbh, but it's probably more likely that. There were rumors of a Cruis'n Blast port to Switch being possible a few years ago, right?

@Paraka @link3710 - My guess would be a new Excitebike.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,537 games (as of December 22nd, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

I'd love MK9 or even a diddy kong racing like @link3710. I think the internet would go into a frenzy of they bring back F-Zero. Sorry if anyone has already brought that up but that would be huge, imo.

Again, I'm more of a Mk or DKR guy, but I know f-zero is beloved.

I'd rather that be a summer release as opposed to holiday 2020, since I'd much rather have metroid( of any kind), botw2, or bayo3. But after all, it's not about me 😉

Nintendo reveal they bought the rights to Midtown Madness and make a new game where you drive real world cars through various Nintendo themed worlds.

Nintendo announce Nintendo Land 2 to celebrate the opening of the real Nintendo Land (Super Nintendo World) featuring a collection of new and returning attractions (the F-Zero attraction in the original had tires and there'd be a new Mario Kart attraction).

@Magician - It can easily be a new Excite game, it's the safest bet.

I've just been inundated to tidbits I am piecing together that isn't equating Excite of any fashion. I'm getting Cruis'n.

@link3710 - And that's another addition to this little quandary of mine. DKR hasn't been rumored since the Wii U, and NX rumors had Cruis'n all over the place, even in tandem with the Star Fox GP rumors. It may very well be Cruis'n, with all that doubt.

I want it to be F-Zero more than anything, but they don't have wheels.

In theory Nintendo could have the direct on any day(as a suprise) like they could announce one tomorrow for Saturday. And they will have already recorded the direct.

Destiny, justice and retribrution will be mine.

Did they? I followed the NX mill pretty closely and I don't mind admitting that I'd never heard of this series until I read this page.

Seems the Wii game was pants. The GBA game not much better. Doesn't strike me as the sort of IP worthy of a revival (I see there was a 2017 arcade release, no idea how that's getting on).

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

Are you sure you don't mean Ridge Racer? I remember plenty of Ridge Racer rumours but not Cruis'n rumours.

I think people are getting far too excited about this Direct, even though I would admit that I am also highly anticipating it. My guess is that nothing significant is going to be announced, in terms of new games, until E3 as surely Nintendo is going to want to save the big hitters for then.

I suspect this Direct is more about padding out the start of the year, for the months leading up to June, more than anything else.

I just hope we get some good Wii U Ports – it’s absolutely bonkers in my view that a brilliant game like the Wind Waker is still not on the Switch.

@gcunit - Yeah, there were blurbs about "Cruis'n RedLine" back when everyone on Twitter had an uncle at Nintendo. Then the blurb just kept getting repeated. Originally thought it was one person desperately wanting it, but it was always background noise since... Y'know, it's Cruis'n and not something else.

All rumors aside, I do feel there is a bit of truth to this. Like, even if the rumor isn't true, the IP was actually explored behind the scenes sort of deal.

@Grumblevolcano - No, I am certain I haven't read squat on Ridge Racer for a loooong time now.

@Yoshi87 - I feel this. I am not too hyped about this Direct, it's often the "Year Ahead" sort of deal, many indies, some shadow drops, nothing huge. However, it's always exciting to see what plans are laid out. I think the biggest thing that may come from this is NMH3 release window and a physical release of Cadence of Hyrule.

As for ports; Some were talking about Nintendo cancelling a few teams on the 3DS a year or so prior that were geared to just port older GCN games to the 3DS as it eases into its grave. Luigi's Mansion was one of them, but with Switch being so popular, they moved them to develop more Switch games. I hope part of those projects moved with it. The idea of revisiting Sunshine sounds pretty awesome. 4 Swords wouldn't hurt either.

@Yoshi87 We get significant new game announcements in non-E3 Directs all of the time. Two examples off the top of my head are Animal Crossing New Horizons being teased in the 2018 September Direct and Super Smash Bros Ultimate being teased in the 2018 March Direct.

Both of those were teaser announcements that got the real introduction trailers in the E3 following the announcement, but they were still solid announcements.

Plus, if a game is coming out shortly after E3 instead of Holiday season or later, then it is just smart marketing to reveal it before E3.

Don't get me wrong - it is good to keep expectations is check. A lot of Directs have been rather boring, but new game announcements ARE a thing in non-E3 Directs and I'd be surprised if we didn't get anything of the sort.
