Unfortunately Nintendo only reports total sales for games which pass 1 million sales (for this year, as of August 2, that is Mario vs DK, Peach Showtime, Luigi Mansion 2, TTYD). For Another Code all we have is partial physical sales for some countries. It certainly sold 10s of thousands, but whether that is 100s of thousands is unclear, especially given that the majority of Nintendo sales have been digital recently (58% but that can be more for certain games).
So the last Direct definitely covered all of Nintendoâs remaining 2024 releases? I was hoping for another Direct next month that will announce a shadow drop for Metroid Prime 2 (For its 20th anniversary) but if the last Direct covered this yearâs remaining releases itâs safe to assume we wonât get a regular Direct until around February?
@Don They've been averaging 1 game a month and they only have 11 2024 games on the docket so far. They could pretty easily add a late November game and perhaps a February game in a September direct to fill out the near-term schedule. They also often have NSO updates in September.
Imagine that direct people were looking forward to was just the museum direct. That would be hilarious. Also I wanna see a functional Virtual Boy in big 2024 during the tour that would also be funny
@LinkxPeach I think it would be more on games. I do feel a bit doubtful they would go into the next console there, and I believe that could be saved for a Direct next year. I do think one thing that is absolutely guaranteed for a possible September Direct is a small NSO update, since itâs usually around the Fall some of the NSO services get updated, like the N64 service, and that should be getting a new title soon since itâs been a few months that they have updated it.
I donât quite know what other games they would showâŠI think they might talk a bit on games releasing soon for the remainder of the year, alongside new game reveals and third-party titles of course. But if there is, I wonder what new games there could be, cuz a bit is unknown on what other games they will release next year besides that DKC port and a few other games.

Itâs possible theyâd talk about some Switch games, and NSO games this year. As for the Nintendo Switch 2, October Nintendo Direct.

Looking for friends to play Mario Tennis: Aces, Pokken Tournament DX, Diablo III: Eternal Collection, etc. on Nintendo Switch with.
@TheBigBlue
It will be more hilarious to see peoples keep complaining for no new Switch games announced from Nintendo Museum Direct when from Nintendo already said only focus on soft opening of their museum without mentioning any new games at the moment.
@LinkxPeach I do think a lot of those are guaranteed, can agree. Maybe they could talk about the next console possibly next year, maybe early 2025, cuz I think there were reports that said the console wasnât expected to release early next year, which tells me that the console could be released later in the year, but Iâll just wait for official confirmation and info for that. I really canât wait to see what they might show during a possible September direct since a lot of the already announced games are releasing soon. Iâm gonna miss the Switch when it gets discontinued and replacedâŠ
Wonder if Worlds is going to have ZA at the closing ceremony. They already showed off the trailer for Unite and a trailer for TCG Pocket. There's only ZA and Dynamaxing in Pokemon GO left as possibilities for the big closing ceremony announcement.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
The fact that they have to announce in every Direct that they're not talking about Switch 2. They can't keep that up forever. I honestly don't think we're that far away

@skywake It's just to stop all the asinine Youtuber videos "THIS IS HUGE! Switch 2 rumoured to be in the Museum Direct.' Lol, imagine if they DIDN'T add it hahaha. Click bait city!
It's clear to me Nintendo wants everyone's eyes still on Switch this year. They aren't saying it in a 'wait for it...waaaait for it.' tone.
If they were going to reveal it this year, they would have said this year, not fiscal year.
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@GrailUK
Yeah, maybe. I was thinking more along the lines of it being inefficient marketing wise to have to spend energy talking about what you're not going to talk about. I don't think that's really sustainable

@GrailUK Maybe by saying this financial year instead of calendar year, it means Nintendo wonât have repeated questions about when itâs being revealed. Also if manufacturing is now starting up in the next quarter, that may force Nintendo to make the reveal to avoid leaks.

@FragRed Well, Eurogamer posted the diagram of the NX a good few months before it was revealed, so there isn't going to be that quick a knee jerk reaction to leaks. If they can, Nintendo prefers to adopt the 'we don't comment on rumour' strategy so they can stick to their schedule. So if it goes into production Q4 and leaks, then a couple of months time we see it (i.e still next year.)
Just for clarity, I'm not wanting to be a contrarian or anything, I'm buying a Switch 2 day one! And I will be full of joy if we see it sooner than later, but that's not how I've been reading their messaging.
@skywake Well there is only this Museum Direct and the September Direct to go. So it doesn't need to be that sustainable. And imagine the hype when the first Direct next year doesn't have that tagline. They know what they are doing.
