Topic: NES switch controllers external charging

Hey!

Does anyone have any good solutions to charging the NES switch controllers without the console?

I got one of those powerA charging docks but the NES controller is too long to fit in it. 🤦

@nissthree I've heard they fit into the other power A charging dock that also charges the pro controller but I don't have one to confirm. I was looking for one a while back but I couldn't find one cheap enough

I bought a external charger for that.

@ralphdibny it would be cool if someone could confirm if it worked. 60$ just to test if something works is just why I'm asking here first haha

@nissthree $60? I think the RRP was £25 over here but I was looking to find one for under £15. But yeah hopefully somebody here has some experience with this dock specifically.

I found a Reddit link showing someone using a Zelda branded one

Obviously I still can't confirm it works, that's just the info I could find online

I weren't that keen on it to be honest because I don't really need to charge the pro controller on a dock which is why I didn't want to pay full price for it

@ralphdibny Thank you! I just did a quick google search and the ones I could get here in Sweden were around that price. Doesn't seem like nintendo sells them anymore

Maybe one of the other non-licensed brands have enough clearance to fit the NES controller, alternatively you could get creative with a Dremel and the standard joy con charging dock!

But the site say no longer available. But use that link to find similar one. I bought that one because they are position opposite of each controller and was long enough to park the NES controllers. But if you find one that works contact the seller or manufacture before buying to confirm it does work for NES controller charging.

I have the HORI charging stand, and the NES controllers don't fit, so don't get that one, haha. It's kind of annoying, but I just move the Joy-Con to the charging stand and attach the NES controllers to the Switch when I need to.

@nissthree heya, not sure if you are still kicking about on here. I thought I'd let you know that I managed to order that power A joy con & pro controller charging dock and it charges the NES controllers perfectly 👌

It doesn't have a weird base like the standard joy con charger which gives the NES controllers enough clearance to dock into it properly. I guess it's a bit unsightly because it has a big space for the pro controller (usb is fine for me!) But I guess I'll start charging my pro controller on there anyway

I got it from Amazon UK for £12. Looks like they don't have any new ones in stock but they do have a used one from Amazon Warehouse
