Topic: Minecraft online connection advice

I'm a new technophobe. Bought my 8 year old a switch with Minecraft. He wants to play online, the box says he can. All the online instructions say you have to download Minecraft Nintendo switch edition which apparently hasn't been available since 2017. How do I connect him to play with a friend using an Xbox?

You don't need the switch edition. Does he have a Microsoft account he is signed in on?

@BigGraeme did you try contacting MS Minecraft support first because they would know more about their game and connections to other consoles. Also if he has his own Switch account that would also require a NIN account as sometimes that is needed for Online activity to connect as well.

I have no idea what all that meant. Got it sorted. Mum had strict parental controls/ privacy settings which stopped him. Changed the settings and he is now playing. Thanks for the help folks.
