Barring the crossover, Investigations 2 is the only one I haven't played yet, but I was hoping this was coming. I've heard great things about AA:I2, looking forward to playing it.
I'm glad we're getting both of these! I nearly bought the mobile port of AAI some time ago but held off. I suspected these might hit the Switch eventually.
Now we're just missing Layton vs. Wright, but I'm not too confident about that one; Level-5 actually did much of the development.
@Fizza Except The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles on Xbox, for whatever reason.
I would be more concerned about the chances for potential re-release of the Layton crossover if not for Level-5 being more active in the West recently. Maybe it's just a matter of waiting for after the new game they announced in the previous Direct.
Anyway, most importantly: is there any confirmation that AA Investigations Collection will be available physically? I really hope it will, even if it's just in Japan and I'm forced to import it like I did with the first trilogy and Ghost Trick.
EDIT: I just checked the official page, and it will! Even for the West!
@Tyranexx buying the mobile game now ain’t a great idea due to not supporting current smartphone resolutions. Expect a weird boxed view! But I also pray for the Layton game. It was neat!

@Yousef- The only reason I even considered AAI on mobile is due to the fact that copies of the DS game are on the expensive side. I can deal with wonky resolutions if I can see everything on the screen. I'm still glad I decided to wait; not only because I thought Capcom would probably port Investigations eventually, but also because I have/had other backlogged games in the series. I've only just played the first trilogy despite owning the Japanese physical for a few years. I have The Great Ace Attorney pair backlogged, and ironically I was planning on picking up the Apollo Justice Trilogy around the time these two spinoffs release.
Currently playing: Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake (Switch), Hades (Switch)
Of all the reveals in the recent Direct, this was the one that actually made me yell. AAI2 is the only game in the series I’ve never played, so I’m pleased to finally jump in! (Yep, I do have Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright on my 3DS.)
Edit: I will pre-order my physical copy (Switch, naturally) tomorrow, on my way home. Aside from those bonus music tracks, I really want the game cart and that box art!
Stupid question for me to ask, but out of curiosity, are the Ace Attorney games fun and memorable? I know little about it and don’t know if I will play it, but I really want to know from someone here that has played them.
“Woah-shi! It’s a double Yoshi explo-shi!” - Yoshi’s Woolly World ad, 2015
If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flippy from Happy Tree Friends.
(Game 1) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is an incredibly strong start, and the best place to start because the series has some massive walking spoilers for the first game. All english releases also contain a large bonus case that wasn't in the original games.
(Game 2) Ace Attorney: Justice For All has an incredibly memorable second and final case, even if it contains two of the weaker cases in the series.
(Game 3) Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations is a runner for best VN I've ever played, it's a fantastic game that really pushes the boundaries of how to tell a story.
(Side Game) Miles Edgeworth Investigations actually isn't the typical VN gameplay, you actually walk around with a character on screen to investigate, and there's no trials. It's got similar vibes writing-wise, but it's a fun mix-up in gameplay. It takes place after the original trilogy, but before the second one, so I do recommend playing the first 3 games ahead of it. That said, the first game (I haven't played the second since it hasn't been translated yet) at least goes out of it's way to avoid spoiling as much as possible from the trilogy.
(Game 4) Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney is a very fun game... but also was supposed to not be a sequel to the original trilogy and the executives meddled with it. So it's kind of a mess...? I have mixed feelings, always will. But totally worth playing for yourself.
(Game 5) Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies is a mixed bag. There's parts of the game I love and parts that... not so much.
(Game 6) Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice is super fun. It's a bit bogged down from following up on threads from 4 & 5, but it manages to tie things up in a satisfying way and allow the series to move on... whenever 7 finally launches.
(Side Game) The Great Ace Attorney duology is basically one long ten case game (it was literally supposed to be one game but it grew out of scope), and incredibly solid the whole way through. It's in a different era from the other titles, so it can be played with no prior knowledge.
(Side Game) Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney is super fun if you like both series, it's literally just alternating between being a Layton game for the investigation segments and an Ace Attorney game for the trial segments.
