Played a significant amount of hours yesterday. I feel like some others here. It's not that awe inspiring feeling I got for BOTW in the opening moments but definitely walking away impressed. It's super solid build and fun to play.
Not much of a fan of the snap the controller to spin cappy as with the pro controller it started to hurt as I throw it to the side with one hand and after a few hours this became uncomfortable. Wish I could dedicate a button to this as it's super useful for taking on multiple enemies.
I've changed my usual collect em all tact as I felt I was just getting held back from the rest of the game. So I'm trying to move briskly whilst still exploring a bit.
So far so fun. Can't wait to carry on after heading down the coast for a gig tonight. But Sunday and Monday will be dominated with the continuation of my Odyssey!
Some of Mario Odyssey is seriously giving heart palpitations.... that plumber is trying to kill me!
You can spin the hat with buttons. Just spin Mario with the left analog, then throw the hat. Alternatively you can jump and hell do this little propeller floating spin jump. It's pretty rad
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced
So so far, I haven't found Moons to be as bad as I originally thought they would be. A chunk of them are freebies, but I think they're varied enough to the point where I don't find them as dull the Korok Seeds were in BotW. Which is nice, and I actually find myself enjoying getting them. Although, perhaps they could have gone about making the real challenge Moons more distinct from the easier freebie-ish ones.
This game feels so good to play. Easily going to be my goty. Also something about the visuals look so good. Clean and even though they aren't "realistic" they stand out to me.
I mean a lot of the textures are realistic, there're just a lot of bright colors and stylized effects on top of that. Mario games have always been among the best looking on the console, Sunshine is an amazing looking game for a 2002 title.
So, who here has cleared Metro Kingdom? Is the ending to that kingdom not the single coolest thing you've ever seen in a Nintendo game? What a way to cap one of the more memorable parts of the game so far!
It's really cool that "Jump Up, Super Star!" is actually a part of the game, and not just promotional music for the trailer.
@Anti-MatterWhen you first get to the city, it's nighttime and rainy. After you beat the world boss early on, it transitions to perpetual daytime. There is a hidden level within New Donk City you can visit that goes back to the dark and rainy thing, though.

I literally just finished that part 30 min ago. It was definitely my favourite kingdom so far.
@Octane I'm not sure why someone would hate the post-game. Honestly it's been my favourite part of the game so far. From what I read in reviews it seemed like there was almost no post-game, but I was pleasantly surprised when I finished the game.
Edit: Question for anyone who has beaten the game:
After I beat the final boss I noticed you can buy multiple moons at the shops in each kingdom instead of just one. Does anyone know the limit to how many you can buy? So far I've bought 8 from the Sand Kingdom alone.
Judt rounding out Metro Kingdom now. Once you get past the Wooded and Lake Kingdoms (Though Lake was great because its small) the game really pickd up.
The problem is with the way I have played every 3d Mario gane up to now...this means its taken about 10-12 hours to hit its stride and dtart not being dull.
I cant stress this enough but Sand Kingdom is far too big empty and dull (And I spent ages looking for coins that were hanging off the side of the world below a ledge. But because its so empty and vast...they could have been anywhere.) and it really should not have been so early in the game. Especially not if you play Mario games the way I do.

Has anyone tried playing this game with another player? I played it with my son for a bit and it does change the dynamic of the game. I actually found it alot of fun.

Yay, so Amazon managed to fulfill my launch day pre-order, and now I've played the game for quite some time now. Here are my first impressions so far:
The 60 frames-per-second frame rate sported by this game is absolutely marvelous. I guess it DOES come at a cost, however; the dynamic resolution feature can sometimes be a bit obvious. Not that it takes away any of my enjoyment of the game, but I do wish it was less noticeable.
There are so many moons. I seem to be finding moons every five minutes (doesn't help that I comb every bit of an area). Not sure whether this is a perfectly good thing, to be honest... Part of the appeal in finding stars/sprites in 64/Sunshine/Galaxy was the satisfaction of finally reaching a star or a Shrine Sprite. And since they were relatively few (compared to how many moons Odyssey apparently has), the appeal was even greater. It's very fun to explore in this game, but I don't need to be rewarded with a moon EVERY TIME I find a secret corner!
HD Rumble. My Lord, this game has the best HD Rumble implementation ever. Like, each action has its own unique rumble that's just the right frequency, and it's not too loud (FAST RMX) nor too quiet (Splatoon 2). Best of all, some of the HD Rumble actually feels EXTREMELY accurate to what's happening, such as when you're rotating those tanks when aiming them, for example. The accuracy of feeling like you're twisting one of those old-school spring-loaded knobs is absolutely unreal. As if there wasn't any reason to love HD Rumble any more than I do right now!
All in all, I'm just loving this game so much. In all honestly, I wasn't actually hooked at first, since I was still struggling with the controls (admittedly)... but I seriously cannot put down Odyssey at this point. What I've played of so far is truly amazing, and I can't wait to get far into the game and see what's in store for me.
Oh, and the dinosaur in the Deep Woods in Wooded Kingdom is legit scary. I'm not sure why, but I'm just putting it out there.
@Vee_Flames Comment on your last spoiler: Aww, lil Rexxie wouldn‘t hurt a fly! Ain‘t he cute? No idea what I gotta do with him once I capture him. Please don‘t tell me, though. Half of the game‘s fun comes from figuring stuff out on your own imo.

My Mario Odessey and amiibo delivery was delayed for 6-7 days, hello darkness my old friend... Canceled the preorder I placed months ago. I'm going to buy the game this afternoon at a local game store, hopefully the amiibo too.
A piece of the Triforce appeared before you! (>'.')> ▲ Touch it now!
@Xaldin Glad to see someone else is doing post-game as well. I have some questions too.
I, too, saw that you can buy unlimited(?) Power Moons from the shops. At least, it says ''Buy 10''. I'm not sure what it means. I haven't done any of that yet, cause I'm not sure what the effects are. Do they replace the Moons you find in the kingsdom? I don't think so, but is there a limit on how many you can buy?
I don't want to google it in case I come across major spoilers. I still have to find most of the regular Moons,
so I'm good for now, finished at 250 yesterday.
Post-game feels a bit like the Green Stars from Galaxy 2. Fortunately they're marked on your map. Some may find it too much work I think... And there are definitely more kingdoms after the Moon Kingdom, which is kinda neat. I also love the Mushroom Kingdom and all the references to 64. Anyway, completing this game is going to take a while!
