@Haru17 Not that I'm aware of. Which also means you can't redo some of the story missions. That's what you get for wishing them to do away with the episode select screen
@BLP_Software Well, I'm not a fan of the Koopalings either, their designs feel copy-pasted and the battles play out in a similar way. I prefer the unique boss fights like those in Sunshine and Galaxy. Fortunately, those are in Odyssey too. But yeah, don't care about the rabbits at all.
Are you completing every world before you move on to the next one? I decided to do the story first and collect the rest afterwards. I'm at 150 Moons or something like that, and I think I'm in the last kingdom.
Playing co op, while very frustrating in terms of map movement, is very fun. I'll play the majority of it alone, but I'd definitely love to replay or finish finding all the moons with a partner
@Octane Ive only had 2 unique not a rabbit bosses so far. Its quite lackluster so far. :/
Im doing everything as and when it can be done. I know when ive got all currently available moons as Toad says there is no more hints.
But these 6 DAMN COINS! Damn they are driving me mad.
@Snaplocket 50+ hours in Mania. Its a great game. It has huge flaws with Blue Sphere being accessed the way it is and the lack of new zones. Controls, visuals, music, general gameplay? Its great. It just has problems.
And those problems for me are pretty glaring when you see the potential these guys have for new zones and see them use 8 old ones.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
@Nicolai I've tried that, and for some reason my dives don't bounce off Cappy...either I'm doing something wrong or you can't do such after wall jumping or other certain moves.
I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke! My YouTube Channel! Video game related, of course! My Pushmo Levels
I'm at work and so have only played in hand held mode so far on my lunch break.
There seems to be a lot of motion/shake controls. Even though it seems to work, shaking the whole system totally screws up your view of the action. This seems like it would be better on the pro controller.
Are these actions much important? It seems they are pushing the detatched joycon motion control scheme. Is this the supreme way to control this game?
I had planned on mostly playing on TV with the pro controller but am defintely giving detatched joycon a try. Not sure how useful it is though.....am I going to be going back to my pro controller and just feel gimped when playing handheld?
So the koopalings are still around... they just look like rabbits now. Just as boring as they ever were, unfortunately. The unique bosses are pretty cool, though. Especially that one with the rocket fists.
I'm not usually one to get excited about cameos, but I have to admit, I actually cheered when Captain Toad showed up. Nice to know they retained something from the Wii U era Mario games.
@Nicolai I had to pull that off to get up to a hidden area in the lake kingdom.
...wasn't easy.
This game seems really deep in terms of the combos you can pull off, but unlike Mario 64, it controls well even if you're not super adept at the controls. It's accessible but also technical if you want it to be. I like that a lot.
@blaisedinsd I started out playing with detached joycon. It's OK. I actually prefer using them in the grip, though, so I imagine the pro controller feels just as good, if not better.
@Octane isn't every dive in this game a midair dive? @MasterWario There are certain situations where it won't work if you are already in the air, like, for example, it won't work when doing it a second time for even more air. Cappy just kinda cancels if you try to get to him twice in the same air.
But yeah, I can skip a lot of obstacles doing this.
That dive is super helpful, and is part of something that I really enjoy seeing in Mario games. In that it's a somewhat difficult technique that rewards more experienced people for learning and experimenting with it. Saved my butt a lot.
Overall, I enjoy the game, but I'm not really grasped by anything beyond the creative worlds and gameplay. I'm not a big fan of collectathons so I'll probably finish this game in pieces.
And yeah. So far, the bosses suck. while charming and cute, they're too easy and dull.
So whilst slightly drunk I have now bought a second copy for my Bro, so for his Birthday I have now bought him a Switch, Zelda and Mario Odyssey. I talked about this in one of article comments sections a while back why I’ve spent so much on him. Although it seems a lot, I was putting a little from my monthly pay check back to pay for the Switch, so it hasn’t seemed like a big deal for me. Didn’t plan on buying Mario for him though, but he has to play this amazing game.
The fact that this game has kept me away from playing Destiny 2 on PC online with my mates tonight shows how much I’m enjoying it. In an age where Microsoft and EA say making single player story driven games isn’t sustainable, Nintendo (and also Sony) are proving otherwise. It’s because those companies want micro-transactions/loot boxes, as all they care about is doing the least amount of work and getting maximum profit. Nintendo just keep making games to bring people enjoyment and happiness.
Got to the end credits. That's around 12 hours, including a bit of exploration. There's still a ton to do, but you can finish this game pretty quickly.
@Ralizah Well, he's actually from Super Mario Galaxy.
@Nicolai I think so, but it's only useful in Sunshine for water sliding, so I never thought of trying it.
Another nice touch: when you go retro style in the wall running segments, the background music demasters itself into a chiptune version. Forgot to bring that up early, but it really stuck out to me.
@Octane Oh man, you're right! It has been too long since I played that. For some reason I've always associated him with 3D World. Maybe because you actually get to play as the character.
Not that I'm aware of. Which also means you can't redo some of the story missions. That's what you get for wishing them to do away with the episode select screen
...Not... not like that. I didn't wish for the episode select screen to take away the movement of the heavens. I swear, sometimes Nintendo is like a vengeful genie.
And yeah, I don't think anyone likes how many of the boss battles are ugly Ubisoft bunnies. Even those are fun, fast-paced fights though. And guys, if you want cool, unique boss battles, they're in there. Finish those worlds!
Lastly, I have discovered the Lake Kingdom. The Lake Kingdom is a beautiful, beautiful water level.
Seriously, the unnamed Mario mermaid creatures a more sensical lifestyle than the recent incarnation of Zoras. The main area is so beautiful when you emerge into it, it's just a fun place to comb and collect coins and moons. Irreversible time of day progression complaint returns though, the area looks a lot less impressive after you beat the Rabbid. That may wind up as my biggest complaint with the game.
